Yeah I got the G36 too. I own a Mooney M20F and I like flying it but I'd like something with a radial and about 100 kts faster. Hmmm...
Drinking lots of coffee lately, at a nice safe jungle desk, wishing I were flying......

I also got Mooney 201... Beggining to think this is all a marketing ploy

It assigned me a C-185, which I guess is okay. Maybe I would have scored a Feisler Storch, if I'd picked 30's and 40's....

I did this yesterday and got the Mooney 201 as well (a google search tells me that was a marketing nickname and it's actually an M20J). I picked the Ferrari though so it's not just a Porsche that puts you into one.
I've only flown a few school/rental types so far and don't really know what I'd most enjoy so maybe they're right. The reality may not match my expectations but I think I'd rather try some unusual attitudes.

Looks like I need to start looking for a Globe Swift, too.

Nice to see AOPA used a picture of Fern Villeneuve's airplane to illustrate the Swift.
LnS.

Swiped it from the wiki. Photo was
taken at my airport. I mowed the
grass it's sitting on.

I didn't notice that. If its good enough for Fern, well then its good enough for me. Hmm. I think I know where a Swift lives. I might have to go bother some people.lownslow wrote:Looks like I need to start looking for a Globe Swift, too.

Re: What GA Airplane Were You Meant to Fly? (AOPA Quiz)
Temco Globe Swift has had a dizzying
array of engines installed over the decades.
Original was C-85 Continental. IIRC:
O-300 145hp TCM
O-360 180hp Lyc
IO-360 210hp TCM
220hp Franklin
I am not a big fan of the hydraulic gear.
Some people don't like the big holes in
the bottom of the wings for 3-point landings
and recommends wheelies.
They are all so old ... Roy LoPresti, a couple
decades back, tried to revive it. Painted it
sexy yellow, it was on all the glossy magazine
covers. I think Piper might have tried to
take the project over, but dropped it during
one of the bankruptcies.
There are a surprising number of survivors
over the many decades. A friend of mine has
a polished one with O-300. Nice airplane. It's
not unusual to get three of them together at
Gatineau every once in a while.
Nice to see Fern got his medical back. I know
they were after him - "too old to fly".

Got the C-185.... Most of my experience is tailwheel so I can appreciate being labelled a Skywagon. Nice quiz.

I see nobody but nobody here is selecting BRS as essential equipment..

I've always loved the Globe Swift..... it reminds me of a poor man's Spartan Executive--especially when polished.
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?

What do you need to say about BRS
to get this as your aircraft?

Believe it or not, 1935. When giants

G36 as well. Disappointing. I guess a lot of us want to escape to a remote island and drive a Ferrari & Harley around it

Re: What GA Airplane Were You Meant to Fly? (AOPA Quiz)
Well not for a plane I'm going to fly! I would never take the time during the emergency to look for the checklist, to work may way down to the fourth item of "locate and pull handle". I'd be busy flying the plane! C-185 with a BRS - Ha! It'd likely get tangled in the float rigging or ski check cables anyway! Better just to fly it.....I see nobody but nobody here is selecting BRS as essential equipment

Spartan Executive, which is actually one of my favorite airplanes so I'd say this quiz is accurate.
Re: What GA Airplane Were You Meant to Fly? (AOPA Quiz)
I got the Beech 18. Ironically, I have a few hours from my first flying job a long time ago back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. I found it a handful then, but without an FMC, flight directors, autopilot, auto throttle, auto land etc... I'd probably find it a handful today too.
Re: What GA Airplane Were You Meant to Fly? (AOPA Quiz)
I got the Beechcraft Baron. I have no idea what the hell that says about me. Incidentally I did "fly" one once, from the right seat, with the auto-pilot on
