Jazz Pairings

Post by wordstwice »

Can some of the Jazz folk tell me what a new hire would expect for pairings ? 1day, 2 days, 3day, etc?

Any other info regarding scheduling would be greatly appreciated.

A new hire can expect to be on reserve, so you can do 1 to 4 day pairs as well as east, central and western flying. The only thing you can bank on is your 12 guaranteed days off a month.

As I commuted from YYC to YYZ, all year I was looking in envy at the Calgary guys who never had to train outside the block. 'Man, I can't wait to get back there again... and train INSIDE'. Of course, the day came that YYC opened up, and of course they changed the policy just before I got there. GRRR!

Can someone give typical pairings for YYZ based Dash and RJ?

Also, for the YYZ RJ, how much time would one fly on the 100/200 vs 705?

Maybe this should be under Jazz instead of AC. Just saying.

I'm interested in Jazz, as well as Porter, as a long term destination.

So you assume wrong, I guess...

There are no "typical" pairings. Single day and multi day. Low credit and high credit. Domestic and transborder. Mornings and afternoons. There are over 100 different pairings per month on the YYZ Dash alone.

Thanks :) ,

What kind of pairings tend to be more popular, which ones less (trying to gauge what a new hire on the Dash would get)?

New hire YYZ Dash 8 - reserve. If you aren't on reserve, you can count on having standup shifts (evening check in/early morning check out), multi day pairings typically over the weekends.

The RJ is quite senior in YYZ at the present time, extremely unlikely that a new hire would be assigned this position. YYC maybe.

From another thread:

FlyPorter and EarlyInEarlyOut are the same person, a 16-year-old kid who doesn't have a pilot's license, and who has been repeatedly banned from this forum for spamming about airline schedules and creating multiple accounts.

Always kills me when noobs are asking questions about things like pairings and jump seating when they probably don't even know what ILS stands for.

There is a Jazz forum on here and I'm very curious yo know why you didn't post this there. Air Canada is not Jazz and Jazz is not Air Canada.
