Does anyone know what the deal is with the two 737-200's that have been parked next the the Shell Aerocentre in YYC for the last month or so?!
One is in AC colours (white fuse and green tail) and the other is Zip colours (white fuse and orange tail), but all the AC/Zip logos have been painted over.
Can't give you any details but they've been there for a couple of months. AC seems to be using YYC as a parking lot for some of their equipment, it's all over the field.
every monday or tuesday they have an AC guy spark up the APU and both engines and run them for a couple minutes, i guess to ensure they'll make it to the desert!
these are planes that have run out there lease and they are not renewing the lease. There is another on that is parked in Edmonton at the air Canada cargo building, but it sometimes has to move when the ramp has to be used by another airplane
I actually answered my own question when I bumped into a guy who works for Zip and asked him. He said that Zip will replace all of its 737's with A-319's by the spring of 2005! All the old 737's are off to the desert!
