I've got a solution. How about I trade my crowded shitbox home with a postage stamp-sized backyard (situated well within city limits  ) straight across for their sprawling, euphoric acreage complex? Since I'm aware of the noise produced by airports, and actually enjoy it, wouldn't that make everyone happy?

It's as inane as buying a dishwasher, installing it in your walk in closet, then complaining to Kenmore that it "makes noise"! Wtf!?! There truly is no limit to stupidity. What gall.

Actually I don't think Nenshi is responsible. CYBW resides outside of Calgary's city limits. I believe that would fall under the County of Mountainview.

Just wait until a WestJet or an AC 777 makes an emergency landing there at 0300...
I'd like to see if they have the balls to complain about that...

G'day

To all you NIMBY's.

You know where you can find sympathy? In the dictionary between shit and syphilis!

Cheers...Chris

well airports aren't the only thing that make noise, there has been a new urban home development going on on the other side of calgary too. just a hardball throw north east of the stoney trail off of hi-way 1 1500new homes n guess what :?: the new RAIL YARD IS just through the last thin stand of popular, I'd bet the developer didn't tell the new buyers that either . :smt014 :smt014  also the building material for foundations were code but not designed to have 50-10 trains a day vibrate the foundation of your new 400k home . have fun with that sorry about your luck. that rail yard will make the ybw noise seem like a tempest in a teapot.

I was visited years ago by a by-law officer when I worked out west that told me that a complaint had been filed as I had "rattled the windows and pictures frames" in this little old ladies' house. Again, new retirement community built right next to a sleepy west coast airport. I didn't realize that a 172 could cause so much disturbance between 1000' and 1500' in a decent with the power back.

Man, you should have seen the angry residents storm the airport (pitch forks in hand) when a prop driven aerobatic team visited for the day! Good thing there were way more pilots and parents with kids there enjoying the display to fight them off.

No problem with the development as long as the MD requires that all deeds and real estate listings contain an Airport Noise Advisory.

Then they can sue their lawyer and/or real estate agent :smt040

In Moose Jaw, SK, the subdivision north of the base had a large sign as you entered saying the subdivision was under the approach/departure path of a military airport (or words to that effect). You couldn't claim you didn't know.

For those who appreciate the scriptures, this issue brings to mind St.Paul's letter to the hermaphrodites:

Dear Hermaphrodites,

Go F**K yourself.

Yours Sincerely,
St.Paul

This reminds me of Grande Cache back in 2003ish, just north of the main hiway running through town, up on a hill Pacific western had a hangar where they were running Jetrangers, As350's 212's and 205's out of for several years. Things started picking up in town and somebody decided to build a new hotel. Right downhill from the helipad and just off the hiway. My dad told me about actual 911 calls from hotel guests and the owners about helicopters taking off and making noise bright and early at 7am. They actually requested the helicopters not take off before 9 am.

One glider club has been operating at its current location since at least the '70s.

The real estate agents put the fancy houses on the market in January or February and the suckers/buyers find out about the glider club (and towplanes) in March or April -- or they do showings during the week.

One real estate agent phoned to complain when we happened to begin operations while she was doing a showing.
