Insurance for dolly takeoffs

Hi

Does anybody know if there is special insurance for dolly takeoffs?

Not to my knowledge. Your best best if you've got any concerns is to either not attempt it in the first place and/or speak with your insurance broker.

Your insurance company knows. If you're afraid of the cost of that, try the cost of not having it when you need it.

Good question, I wonder about wet grass landings too?

Both dolly and grass are common occurrences around here but they dont seem any more dangerous than water operations in difficult conditions.

All you need to do is look at exclusions. If it's not in the exclusions, than you're OK. Talking to your broker will do you no good. Even if he says it's OK but the underwriter won't ensure, it will not do you any good because "he told me it was ok" won't supersede the contract.

I know a guy who botched a dolly T/O with a Beaver a couple of years ago.

The prop ended up chewing through the bed of the truck and the forward keels of the floats got gouged pretty bad dragging along the pavement.

Insurance went good for it.

No idea who he was insured through though or any specifics on the policy.
