I'm with him. As a tall guy I can't fit in AirCanada's seating comfortably as it is. 6 inches less space? I'm not sure I could get in at all.
I have to laugh at, "He says he wouldn't have used his AeroPlan points if he knew..."

Doesn't Westjet cost the same and have the same level of service and seat pitch?
Seems like people just got used to paying Westjet prices and getting Air Canada service.

I'll still fly ac for the tv's. But if I booked ac and got Rouged I'd be pissed.

Re: Go Air Canada Rouge! Send them all to WestJet!
I'm not sure but Westjet may have added seats. At first they seemed to have similar seating to AirCanada's back end but the service was missing back then.
AirCanada lost me because a lack of service was preferable to surly reluctant service and we were on a few too many flights, "operated by alliance partner...".
Now I'm tempted to go somewhere close on Rouge just to see what it's like first hand.

News flash Tin Can, WJ set the standard for getting "shoe horned" into a small crowded jet. Particularly with the false marketing on "seat pitch" by making the seat shorter.
Re: Go Air Canada Rouge! Send them all to WestJet!
And I predict that in another 12 to 24 months AC and Rouge will be struggling and they will get yet another handout from the feds.

Yup because there's a long list of handouts..........rac007 wrote:And I predict that in another 12 to 24 months AC and Rouge will be struggling and they will get yet another handout from the feds.
Can you provide proof of any of them........

You don't want to do that.Pop n Fresh wrote:I'm not sure but Westjet may have added seats. At first they seemed to have similar seating to AirCanada's back end but the service was missing back then.

But don't you like the hats?
Re: Go Air Canada Rouge! Send them all to WestJet!
The hats are totally lame....actually the whole outfit is lame.

And as usual the news in incorrect.Stu Pidasso wrote:News flash Tin Can, WJ set the standard for getting "shoe horned" into a small crowded jet. Particularly with the false marketing on "seat pitch" by making the seat shorter.
RAC007, the only handout AC ever got was a Harper government TA rammed down the pilots throats with a last min rouge 767 Wtf payscale for good measure.

Happily for me, I am quite short and can fit almost anywhere. But I see tall dudes all the time crammed into the seats on any of these carriers and can't help thinking that they could go a long way towards satisfying more people if they would just weld the bloody seats so they can't be reclined. I can't think of any time I have ever seen someone recline their seat without annoying the person behind them. It's one thing I think would please more people than it would annoy, if they would just fix the seats so they won't recline. I never recline my seat.

Re: Go Air Canada Rouge! Send them all to WestJet!
It seems the biggest complaint stems from the surprise and frustration of being silently rebooked on Rouge when people were fully anticipating the services of the mainline, hence people using the Rouged term.
The big shocker seems that their 'business class' seats are as expensive as the mainline seats minus the service. Definitely a marketing/branding nightmare right now for Rouge - cause as much as they tried to distance Rouge from AC main - people are dragging them both through the mud. AC's own fault for making the two so interchangeable.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Air Transat as an option. It seems people going to these holiday destinations discount Canada's third largest airline (holiday at least). I've flown Air Transat a couple of times - service is great, cabin is good (don't know if they've got inflight entertainment yet). It would be my booking preference for holidays over either of the other two options IMO.

Then fix them all at a more reasonable angle. Why oh why do seats need to be up for t/o & landing?? Like that 2" of recline will make a lick of a difference in an accident!frozen solid wrote:Happily for me, I am quite short and can fit almost anywhere. Westjet's seat pitch was 32" but it went to 31" when the Plus seating came into effect. Air Canada's seat pitch was 32" when i last looked but hat was over a year ago... it may have changed. Rouge's seat pitch is at 29" as indicated on their website and Sunwing, Canjet are at the minimum allowable seat pitch of 28" which affords them 189 seats in the 737-800 (max certified capacity) Westjet has a seating capacity of 174 in the same aircraft to give you some comparison. It doesn't sound like much, but 1 inch would make a big difference... (ask my wife)Pop n Fresh wrote:I'm not sure but Westjet may have added seats. Re: Go Air Canada Rouge! Send them all to WestJet!
Oh yeah...lock the recline on the 29 inch pitch slimline seats on Rouge! Brilliant idea! That will really win Rouge more friends. I can't wait to see the reactions if they ever actually did do that. It would make for entertaining reading for sure!frozen solid wrote:Happily for me, I am quite short and can fit almost anywhere.
