Happy Father’s Day

Post by DaveP »

Hi all, I guess at the end of the day with all the industry complaints etc. we sometimes lose sight of what’s more important around us.
Here’s a great little video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irxTbB_4y0g

Ironically, I was contacted by a member of our community investments team tonight and asked if we could get some simulator time for Medel - the CSA in this video, as he is working towards his private license. Needless to say he will be travelling soon to see us here in YYC.
Take care,
Dave

Happy Father’s Day

Post by FriendlyBear »

Hi Dave,
Thanks for sharing that video... sometimes, it is good to be reminded that there are more important things in life and that others have far greater challenges in life than our own petty problems... Marcel is a star employee and should be congratulated for his humanity and self sacrifice... just imagine what a world we would live in if more people cared.
Great video, I had no idea that there was even a Ronald McDonald House for children.
But, what's with the long ramp for boarding on the mighty Q400... never seen that before! We just use the airstair on the forward and rear doors!
Cheers

Now this was something worth watching! It's great to see you guys doing what you do. Medel did a fantastic job and I think this video should be used as inspiration for anybody, especially in our industry where it's very easy to become reliant developing expectations of others doing their jobs in order for our jobs to go smoothly - it's a good reminder that going out of our way to help somebody often times isn't about the "thing" you're doing for them, it's about the "result" of what you're doing for them.

Something simple such as signing the fuel slip while doing your walk around could save the fueler the extra 5 minutes it takes to walk around the plane, walk up the stairs, come to the flight deck, meet a busy crew; thus allowing him/her to get off his shift early and go home and spend time with his/her family.

It's often been said, things money can't buy and something that seriously lacks in our industry:

- Respect
- Integrity
- Empathy

Great video nonetheless and it's a reflection of the type of people working there! 8)

I missed this post in June but it's great because it reminds me to not complain about stupid petty little crap. I'm very lucky compared to what some people have to go through...
