Several Gear Failures
Rough few weeks for right main gear failures. In the same timeframe I didnt see any left gear failures. I wonder what the reasoning for that would be?

The only three things a wingman should ever say: 1. "Two's up" 2. "You're on fire" 3. "I'll take the fat one"

Re: Several Gear Failures
When an airplane isn't landed straight, the tendency is to be yawed to the left when that happens. Particularly when someone is jockeying the power hoping for a greaser. This means that when it isn't landed straight, the gear are side loaded, but the trailing gear leg (the left one) is designed to flex in that direction, the leading gear is flexed in the wrong direction - at least when you have a spring gear leg like in the Cessna and some degree the DHC. The Piper neither gear leg with the oleos are designed to take much side loading, but they are canted a bit outwards so the strut taking sideways force inwards is going to be more susceptible to damage.
At least that's my thought on the matter. I could be wrong.

We can't stop here! This is BAT country!

Full fledged downwind landings maybe; sure, any swerving while rolling out at very high groundspeed in a 'tailquartering' is wear & tear for that type of a mechanical problem on occasion.

Re: Several Gear Failures
They all occured in BC or Yukon. According to Greenpeace this is caused by earthquakes resulting from all those fracked wells in north-east BC.
Re: Several Gear Failures
They all have a natural tendency to pull one way or the other. I know a guy who has a spare lower wing panel he made for his biplane just hanging on the back wall of the hangar, waiting for the big groundloop that calls it into service. He figures it's a statistical necessity.
