How to contact an aircraft owner knowing only their reg
I was flying yesterday out of Olds-Didsbury, near Calgary, and ended up having a conflict with someone else in the circuit. Zero wind, so I had selected runway 28, the other guy had selected 10. We were both making radio calls, but it became obvious he hadn't heard me. Other aircraft could talk to me fine, so I suspect this particular chap had a send-only (or zero volume) radio. Anyhoo as I was on final for 28 he was on downwind for 10, and I decided I didn't want to risk a head-to-head, pulled up, and followed him in onto 10. Unfortunately he did a very quick touch and go and I couldn't let him know his radio was on the fritz.
I think I remember the registration and have looked it up online. Is there a good reliable way to find a contact based soley on the registration? Regosearch.com seems to have a name and address, but it's a PO Box and no phone number. Any other good options? The aircraft is apparently registered out of Brooks, and it's a PA-28.

If it was a serious issue and you consider to be right make a report to local authority otherwise if you want top contact him just to argue I would suggest to forget and forgive.

Sorry, my intent wasn't clear. It's not to berate the other pilot in any way, it's just to let them know their radio might be on the fritz. We were both in the right as far as I am concerned -- he just didn't spot me during his windsock check. Had I continued my approach I expect he would have spotted me landing and overshot, but I didn't want to chance it. Not a huge deal at all.

I had a similar experience. As it turned out, I was the one in the wrong. I was listening to two frequencies and talking on the wrong one.
Me and the other pilot ended up landing at the same airport. we got out of our planes and both started heading towards each other to discuss what had happened. After checking my own radio I realized what had happened.

I had a similar situation as well. I had stopped into a small uncontrolled airport in Ontario to visit some friends. Their kids did not want to go flying but sat in my Mooney for a while making vroom-vroom sounds. So I took off, making all my calls but didn't hear the C-150 coming in and we ended up closer than I would have liked. Took me a bit while to figure out it the radio volume was down as it was not something I would have done myself. Completely my fault, I'm still a bit embarrassed by that but I learned something and I am much more careful to whenever I let anybody in my plane.
If he was making calls then I would let it go, he's probably figured it out already anyway. A good reminder to be vigilant at uncontrolled airports where there can be NORDO aircraft as well.

I have had that happen where the volume was low. Usually tuning the ATIS ID's the issue, but at fields without those services it can happen. I now make it a habit to cancel squelch when turning on/tuning the com's and turn up the "hiss" to the level I want, then turn squelch back on.

Why would his life as a pilot be "extremely frustrating" if he contacts this guy to let him know his radio has issues? Because there is a lot of pilots who's radio skills are as good as my grammar skills. And if he starts to focus on other ppl's radio work, then your life become miserable and you wanna shoot down the next guy who says :"Conflicting traffic please advise!"

I too would appreciate somebody letting me know if they think there is something wrong with my plane. But short of the plane catching fire at the airport, I would think it is a little whacky for a guy to look me up from the regosearch page, track me down on facebook, find my number, and call me up about an apparent problem with the aircraft or my flying.
