That was about as exciting a contest as the Q400 vs the ATR. I doubt anyone on here would be surprised by this.

Good for WJ!
Paint looks retarded though. Looks too bare. Fits well on 737 but kinda dumb bigger. Maybe it's time to lose the outdated 90's teal colour??

Why not apply for DEC or at least FO with quick upgrade? That's how they did it/are doing it with Encore.
Of course, all hires would have a shot at mainline after two years.

I’m still waiting for my white male privilege membership card. Must have gotten lost in the mail.
Re: 767-300ER it is!
Why? The look is clean and distinctive in a sea of trendy "tail logo over the whole of the rear fuselage" brands. I'd rate it as a timeless look to the brand, that is understated and consistent and in no need of change.DH772 wrote:Good for WJ!

Re: 767-300ER it is!
Their paint scheme probably saves them money to be honest. Lighter aircraft.

I hear the 767s came from Qantas? Should be well maintained birds.

Disagree. Paint looks great, IMHO. Clean design.
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

That's a big boost in capacity going from 2 757's to 4 767's even with one held in reserve any other destinations currently being considered?

Your 4 "new" 767's will be ex Qantas VH-OGN, J, I and L.
Owned by Boeing Capital and leased to WestJet.
4 Doors with 8 emergency exits. GE powered.
Enjoy.

The 1994 one is an oddball. Perhaps Boeing threw it in as a power by the hour spare.
It'll be interesting to see what package was available, in every respect, from the previous operator.
I would assume they are all ETOPS certified. This will likely expedite WJ's ETOPS certification process.

J,I and L were built in 1991, N in 1994.
They've been great aircraft to us, but they are pretty old now and reliability is suffering due to the relatively high cycles (SYD-MEL-SYD-BNE-SYD Ad Nauseum).
Boeing had better get them up to speed, and keep them that way for you.
Cheers.

Erroneous data on the internet. Who would have guessed?
All the more reason to have a spare positioned in the weeds. These would not have cost much to lease and Boeing knows a good customer when they find one.
All of them are considerably younger than the first 737-200's acquired back in the 90's.
I guess we'll find out if Qantas's pedigree truly is as good as Southwest's or ANA's.
Re: 767-300ER it is!
The data at Airfleets appears correct - you just have to check the history of the MSN to get the full details...
