I guess the construction closure of 12/30 is impacting operations with winds forecast 30025G40KT

Re: Wind cancels YEG flights
They should get working on that parallel 12/30 runway! Here's to YEG trying to be like YYC!
Re: Wind cancels YEG flights
Somebody needs to inform the EIA that it's not so much the 'trickyness' of a crosswind landing that prohibited flights from landing, but rather that performing said landings beyond the demonstrated crosswind limits makes us test pilots (and the passengers, unknowingly test subjects).“The challenge for us is again because we have that major reconstruction of the runway ongoing, only one runway is available,” she said. “That puts all the aircraft in the cross wind position, which is a tricky landing to do.”
Re: Wind cancels YEG flights
I thought the 3rd runway was supposed to be angled (like 33/15 or something like that)?ThatArmyGuy wrote:They should get working on that parallel 12/30 runway! Here's to YEG trying to be like YYC!
Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no release from the little things; knows not the livid loneliness of fear, nor mountain heights where bitter joy can hear the sound of wings.

Re: Wind cancels YEG flights
why is 12/30 taking so long to complete? The original notam had it open by now.
Re: Wind cancels YEG flights
Uncoordinated, inability to move aircraft, and 2+ hour flow times? YEG is great when both it's runways are open, and even with one runway ops they still move traffic better then Calgary does. I wish NavCan would send their controllers to O'Hare and see how real pros do it.ThatArmyGuy wrote:They should get working on that parallel 12/30 runway! Here's to YEG trying to be like YYC!
When they put apprx in a notam, add anywhere from two weeks to two months to that date.why is 12/30 taking so long to complete? The original notam had it open by now.

12/30 is open for sure, I used it on Friday. The intereting thing was that a lot of guys could not accept it for use. One conversation on the radio I heard said that they were not able to punch it into their FMS because it was still showing as closed on the NOTAM. Im not sure how it works (if the NOTAMs prevent them from entering it or what) but I was literally the only one to use it for departure, at least 2 planes around me could not use it, one AC and one Westjet I believe.

Yes, the way YEG manages to move 40+ movements in an hour on non-intersecting runways is something to behold, especially when compared to YYC moving 70/hour on crossing runways (until recently.)boxcut wrote: Uncoordinated, inability to move aircraft, and 2+ hour flow times? Yeah, their impeccable timing in giving the same base heading and speed to every airplane is also astounding. Keep the good vibes coming with your enlightened posts.boxcut wrote: I wish NavCan would send their controllers to O'Hare and see how real pros do it.
Turn right/left heading XXX, vectors for the hell of it.
