Orlando,
Thanks for that.

I hear today (3rd hand info), that AC is hiring these low timers because they need CRP's. That's just a rumour heard, so don't quote me. I'm just passing it along to encourage the higher time guys.

Had lunch with the new hire class again today. So here is an update on who they are, or where they are from.

One guy from Jazz, a bunch are from CMA but have been there awhile, 2 are from Westjet and the token woman of the crowd was a Zoom 767 Captain. One of the managers was telling me that AC is looking for youger candidates to lower the overall average age.

Jaques,

Did you get any info about the interview process from the new hires? Is it just the one day (medical, interview, cog test) or did they go through more interviews?

thanks CK

Also,

Are these new hires off the street or are they from the "pool"?

Some were from the pool which tells me it is still alive. I will find out tomorrow the details of the process they went through and post it when I get home for you.

Do you feel that Recruiting is equating low time to young age? Or will they actually try to figure out how old you are? I know that they can't legally ask... but I have no problem offering that information!

As I have said before they can figure out your age from the chronology of your education. I got the call and I am 30, my age was on the bottom of my attached resume. Hope that helps.

Valid point, but do you really think that they will sift through the thousands of resumes just to figure out everyone's age? It's much easier to use the TT vs. Age relationship to narrow down the selection. Too bad for the guys with 5000 hours Turbine PIC at age 25! :(

I would love to know how many resumes AC has, and what the breakdown of the applicants is...ie TT, Age, etc.

Rebel or JS or anyone else!

Does anyone know historically what the success rate for the intrview process was? (ie. 1 out of 2, 3 out of 4, etc.?)

Sorry, They were not in class today so I could not find the details of the interview.

I don't know what the average success rate is for passing the interview but I mentioned before that I was talking with one of the guys on the interview panel and he hasn't been too impressed with many of the candidates. He didn't suggest that it was hard or anything but people are showing up late or without a tie or just giving some really dumb answers to easy questions.

Does anyone know if the 2 year wait at jazz still applies before you are allowed to go to mainline? If so, then yeah I can see why some people would be waiting, or declining jazz for mainline. Roll the dice I say!

If you want to go to AC apply to AC. Don't apply with Jazz unless you want to work here. Things have changed since the days you did your 2 years in the regionals and then could move on to mainline.

Does anyone know whether AC can see that you have applied to Jazz? Or do the two divisions communicate so both are not calling a candidate?

They don't even communicate the arrival times to the ground crews let alone coordinate who calls who. I highly doubt they compare notes on applicants.

Exactly! They are two seperate airlines that happen to have an agreement for mainline hiring. If your only reason to go to Jazz is to side step into the mainline, don't bother applying. Do everyone a favour and allow people who really want to be there go.
