where to do an instructor rating in hamilton, ON and area?

Post by DirtyBird »

Im doing an instructor rating in the near future and havent decided on a school yet. I want to do it in the Hamilton area within a half hour drive of the city.

I know of the following schools:

peninsulair, Hamilton flying club, spectrum in burlington, and I think there are schools in York, Stoney Creek, Grimsby, Brantford.

Does anyone have any good/bad comments based on experiences youve had at these schools and are there any other schools in this area that i didnt list above?

thanks

If it helps narrow your search I am pretty sure the Hamilton Flying club is no longer around. Grimsby is actually a pretty fun place to go, a bit of a drive for you though.

you do realize that once you get started in aviation, staying within 30 minutes drive is not going to be an option... i'm sure you do... don't limit your options with geography. good luck.

I am aware that pilots have to move alot, i have relocated for an aviation job before, its just more convenient for my current living/financial situation to do a rating somewhere close.

Anyone have any comments about Brantford flying club?

thanks for your replies

See if you can get any info on Pass / fail rate of their students. That should tell you all you need to know.

If the pass rate is high or low, you'll have your anwser

No, there's not much fun in Grimsby, but the instruction at Grimsby is top of the pile. If you get your rating there you will not be disappointed.
