If the weather is bad and there are few aircrafts around you almost ready to go, don't get your clearance if your engines are not started or if you are not ready to go.

I have never heard that before. I will do that as to be more accommodating to others that might be ready faster.

I also didn't know you could do this till a US Citation crew were trying to get out of Mont-Tremblant while we were coming in. They asked for their clearance and we're told to wait, then he asked to get his route and Montreal Centre gave it to him. I'm gonna try it the next time I go into CYSJ.

I never do, and fwiw I never call them biscuit-shooters either. They might save your life one day...

As general comment of flying in a non radar area; don't lie about your position; had that happen in the Caribbean and it caused a real cock up for more than just me.

We where just on topping a mandatory position to an airport when an aircraft reported he was at the same point when in reality he was 5-7 miles behind us ( TCAS). Try and get that explained to a controller who English is his 2nd language; and there a total of 5 aircraft in trail as set up by Miami center.
