The LCBO sale leaseback looks far more lucrative. Liberals would have you fixed and profitable with guarantees forever. No ferry or tunnel. Monopoly business to the core. Do I hear 200 million for an opening bid?....
How do you go 205 kts TAS on 32 gal/hr without turbos!

Business capital of Canada...and that terminal is pretty much a business hub for anyone doing business in Toronto.justwork wrote:Why is it worth so much?

Crew meals have gotten pretty rank there too and it use to be really good when Bagel boys had the contract. If you look at the company as a whole over the last 7 years. It's easy to see all the money pinching cost savings they have been doing. Selling the terminal is the first step of a cash flow issue. You don't sell something that makes you money to expand the airline further and hope to revive the cash flow.
Porters problem alone is the city Airport. It's not airline friendly. They have more irrops operating there then say Pearson or Montreal. You don't see the other Porter bases using real airports have any issues. When irrops happen, porter loses money.

I heard the crews at porter are pretty miserable too.Beach 200 wrote:Crew meals have gotten pretty rank there too and it use to be really good when Bagel boys had the contract. I was using porter with my wife on a fog day and porter couldn't get in or out. Yet Cameron Air and Island Air were still operating. The only reason I noticed was because some lady started going off about how the heck can't a porter plane fly when clearly those two crappy planes are flying. She was pointing out the window and I saw CA's 206 taking off while a 182 was taxiing. I don't remember the registration but I looked it up and that one belonged to IA. Absolutely hilarious.
All things aside... I hope the best for them. Lot's of people make their living there. Sadly, what affects porter is the same disease that affects most airlines... Incompetent management.

I can't help but laugh when the negative comments come from people that use to of just don't work at Porter, and all the positive remark come from employees.

I wouldn't kid yourself. I fly porter quite often. You would be surprised at the self-damaging conversations you hear among the current employees there.airliner wrote:I can't help but laugh when the negative comments come from people that use to of just don't work at Porter, and all the positive remark come from employees.

Re: Porter selling off its terminal.
I know some people who fly porter on a daily base, and they love it. I am surprised about the porter bashing.
CYTZ is a great airport, yes minimums are little higher even for ILS, but you don't get fog all year long, worst scenario you get to go to Pearson.

Can't speak for Cameron, but IA: not a chance in hell. Maintenance run up, perhaps, or taxiing for a compass swing.I was using porter with my wife on a fog day and porter couldn't get in or out. Yet Cameron Air and Island Air were still operating.
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.

Actually RAF... It did go up. I know... I was on that IA plane.photofly wrote:Can't speak for Cameron, but IA: not a chance in hell. I miss uncle Mel's flying circus

Just like you still use Loran.

I still like the LCBO deal. Who cares about fog days, real airports, crappy planes or crew meals.

I think you misunderstood that part of the thread. It was intentional.
Definition of moot: Like a cow's opinion, it doesn't matter anyway.

Re: Porter selling off its terminal.
With regards to the grounds crew at cytz unionizing.
First of all they only needed 30% (or something close to this) of the crew to vote yes to a union.
The guys who spear headed the movement had been trying to do it for over five years. Eventually that kind of determination will prevail.

1) I preferred Loran... I don't use it. I did turn it on once to get a rise out of all the "smart, educated, and experienced people" on here. Turns out few on here can take a joke. Feel free to see:

2) Did you see the picture pitot. put up? If that still is not proof enough... Feel to check the journey log books of both TBI and OPE... Compare that to a date I am sure pitot. would be more then happy to give you and then check the weather history on that specific date. I'm fairly sure you don't have to look back far considering how little both those planes get used.

Re: Porter selling off its terminal.
What the heck has Pitot's VFR-day photograph got to do with anything? If WhiskyWhisky can give us the date he was referring to, and if you insist, I'll check the logs.
