ATP Formulas Provided???

Post by Heavy »

Can someone tell me if the ATPL formulas are provided during the exam or do you have to memorize them?

They provide a lot more than I expected. The CAP GEN and most formulas are provided

When asking this question in another thread on this forum I got the opposite for an answer. Can anyone else confirm whether or not the formulae are provided during the ATPL exam?

Bede, when was it that you took the exams?

Whaaaaa??? Damn, things have changed or maybe where I wrote I got the shaft. I wasn't given anything! I was allowed 2 (only 2, if I wanted more I had to trade in what I had) pieces of a paper and pencils only. I wrote my A licence exams in Saskatoon back in '03, so not that long ago. Then when I've got everything passed quite nicely, they wouldn't give me the licence. I needed 13 hours of night PIC, even though I was flying a navajo as a captain (in the middle of winter, so it wouldn't take much to get it) and had more total PIC time then you need total time. Figure that one out :? I'd memorize them all if I was you, it doesn't take much. I just wrote them out everyday and eventually they stuck.

You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

Wrote the SARON less than a month ago. No formulas provided. On the bright side, I did not had a single question about the maximum flying time/minimum rest period/reserve time for 702/703/704/705. Still so confused about that... PM me if you have more questions.

Yup, just completed the SARON so I can confirm myself NO formulae given. I DID have questions utilizing quite a few of them including:

Distance to CP
Time to PNR
Specific Air Range
Specific Ground Range
Weight Shift

Just take 30 minutes and write them out a few times to memorize them.

Now onto the SAMRA
:D
