Baggage delay
Flying standby with a checked bag.. If the bag doesn't make it on your flight, are you eligible for Baggage delay insurance, as advertised by your CC?
Second time it's happened to me in 2 months!

As far as I know your CC insurance is only in effect if you have bought a ticket using the CC, otherwise you are S O L.

My bag is checked in on a standby basis if I am checked in as standby. If I am accepted on the flight I make sure to inform the gate agent about my bag and to confirm that it will be travelling with me.razorblade wrote:Flying standby with a checked bag.. 100% success rate so far!
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find in this business

Yeah I was going on a 100% as well until we got the last two seats and the agent closed the door right on our backs.. 4 hours later. No bags!
Re: Baggage delay
Are you full revenue stby or zed (employee travel) stby? Full revenue you have options Zed travel you are SOL.

Re: Baggage delay
My bag was lost once while I was flying standby on the reciprocal jump seat agreement. The airline said that if they didn't find it that they would pay me up to $1000 for the contents. They ended up finding my bag and couriering it to me 2 days later.
Re: Baggage delay
They never had to pay you so they may have been providing you with lip service. It may depend on the airline as I had an altogether different experience. No courier and no coverage. Bag arrived so I never needed to pursue it but the unpleasant baggage agent was of the tough luck opinion at the time. Btw do you have your bag now?

Re: Baggage delay
Ya it came a day later.. not terrible because I was going home so I didn't need emergency supplies. But just collecting experiences just in case it happens going the other way some time!
