This kid needs a hand
Saw this article on FB from the Ottawa Citizen. Basically this 14 year old kid has spent every day in searing pain because his skin is so sensitive it blisters and scars all the time.
Long story short, his mother is trying to raise money to outfit a special car to drive him to Alaska to see the northern lights, his final wish because he's not going to live too much longer. I don't know about you guys but spending weeks in a car bouncing around would suck when he can do direct in an aircraft.
I think this kid is beyond an airline ticket because of his condition. He needs a private jet. Can the Toronto guys ask their bosses to take him north? It would be a PR coup for any of the companies if they made an event out of it, or it would give them immense satisfaction if they were more private.
I'll ask my boss out in BC, but I think this makes a lot more sense for an aircraft based in Toronto. So why not give it a go and ask too. Worst thing they can do is say no! And maybe somebody's owner might really be into that.

One of those "kick-starter" campaigns could also be started to maybe even subsidize any of the travel expenses. I'm sure we could all pitch in a little.

The site that raises money for him is http://debracanada.org/butterfly-ambass ... athan-pire
I'm going to donate, but I'm still going to keep my fingers crossed that there's an aircraft owner out there that can make this happen including my own boss. It would be hard to say if an aircraft would even work, but if it could happen then the family could be contacted by the owner directly.

What about Yellowknife ? Air North goes to YZF two times per week (direct from YOW) and auroras are pretty good once the ice freezes up (no more cloud). To those of us whom aviation has been good to we could easily afford a round trip. We are all fortunate and hope we can actually do something good on this forum and make this happen for this young fellow.

If I remember correctly Terry Archuck who was one of the owners of Air Tindi when I was up in Yellowknife worked with make a wish foundation, if anybody could make it happen for this young man she could. Anybody reading this if you are in the Knife and know the Archucks (hope I am spelling it right) maybe a word in the right place can go a long way.

From the Ottawa Citizen:
'' Two airlines , Air North and First Air, have offered to fly him to Yellowknife or Whitehorse to see the Northern Lights
Readers in Canada's North have offered accomodation in their homes''
Bravo!
I'm humbled by this kid's story
