Noorduyn Norseman
The Norseman recently passed its 79th birthday! On November 14, 1935 the prototype first took to the air on floats near Montreal. Amazingly, some are still operated commercially in the role it was designed for. Can anyone think of any airplane in the world that predates the Norseman and make this claim. The Douglas DC-3 comes close and first flew a little over one month later on December 17, 1935.

That's pretty cool...my first thought was a piper cub but that was 1938. I have flown 3 different Norseman and loved every minute I was in them even in the summer when they would chew up 2 miles of lake and be pretty damn warm sitting up front behind that bid beautiful radial!
Re: Noorduyn Norseman
I just spent the summer flying a Norseman and I must say it was one of the best float seasons I have ever had.
It was HOT HEAVY HARD WORK , it was also FREEZING COLD ICEBREAKING in the fall , I must say the work is old school bush flying and would not trade any of the work for flying any of the newer bushplanes .
As for next season count me in
Beechnut

This might be a bit of a stretch but the Ford Tri Motor came out in 1925 and has more or less been in continuous service since then. 2 of them fly a lot of folks on nostalgia flights at Oshkosh during the EAA Convention. I am not sure if it constitutes a commercial operation but they are selling seats. I think I paid $75.00 for a 20 minute ride last July.

There is the JU-52 that is still giving rides as well, first flight: 1932.
The Piper Cub was the result of minor modifications to the Taylor E-2 Cub first flown in 1930.
The J-2 Cub with the fully enclosed cockpit and rounded wingtips and tail feathers of the classic Cub first flew in October of 1935.
