Sounds like a total non event to me. Hydraulic problem ... deal with hydraulic problem ... set up for landing with hydraulic problem ... land.

A pity that a factual news report of the incident, with interesting tidbits like how redundant hydraulic systems work and how pilots deal with it, would take more work than just writing "an airplane almost CRASHED" and therefore isn't an option for reporters.

I'm a little sad, ahramin, that you completely passed over my double entendre. I thought I was going to steal the show with that one!
Comedic timing is what it's supposed to be all about.

We don't need no stinking hydraulics.... ...crank the gear down, put the flaps down electrically... T/Rs are pneumatic, flight controls have manual reversion, and blow the bottle for the brakes.... :D

Incident: Cargojet B722 at Hamilton on Nov 25th 2014, hydraulic indication

By Simon Hradecky, created Thursday, Nov 27th 2014 20:43Z, last updated Thursday, Nov 27th 2014 20:43Z
A Cargojet Boeing 727-200, registration C-GCJZ performing cargo flight W8-622 from Hamilton,ON to Halifax,NS (Canada) with 3 cew, was climbing out of Hamilton when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet due to hydraulic system A showing a low quantity. The crew worked the related checklists and returned to Hamilton for a safe landing about 40 minutes after departure.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance checked the hydraulic system, found no leaks, the system was full. The hydraulic indicator was replaced.

The aircraft departed again after about 100 minutes on the ground and reached Halifax with a delay of 2 hours.
