Dash Cycles

Post by wowie_kazowie »

Just wondering approx how many cycles are on the Dash Classics at Jazz. From what I understand is the -100 has a extension to 120,000 cycles from 80,000. Is the -300 the same? Are the jazz classics even getting close to 80,000 yet?
Thanks

I've flown 100s with anything from 55,000 cycles to 76,000.

I have time on a Convair 580 that had 96,000+ hrs and 156,000 + cycles, and it is still going strong. I doubt you ever see a tin can Dash anywhere close to that.....

Sorry sometimes the truth hurts

But seriously the Convair is built like a tank and it is just about unbustable. They just don't make them like that anymore. The downside is that it is heavier and less efficient than more modern designs......but I sure like a design mentality that says "never use 2 pounds of metal when 3 pounds will fit" :prayer:

Yea so some of the -100's are approaching that 80,000, so I assume Jazz will stretch them out to the 120,000 since there is no talk of replacing them.
The Convair is a tank, but she is sure not a pretty bird IMHO. Great for putting out fires and lugging freight around but I sure as heck would not want to sit on one as a pax.

A CV580 burns more than double what a Dash Classic burns. Mind you the 580 is built like a tank. The old Classics are doing just fine. Still no word on whether Jazz is keeping them past 80k cycles or not.

There are rumours that they will not be extended but instead replaced buy less but larger airplanes along with a reduced CP cost and CPA extension. Time will tell what all these talks and negotiations will lead to.

Is Jazz still operating S/N 3? I heard it was on its way down South or something.

I have complete faith in Jazz's older Classics. The old Liat and other island hopping ones with 70,000+ cycles and only 20,000 hours are the scary ones.

GOM is long gone. I gave her a kiss on the cowl the last time I did her oils..... It was my way of saying thank you for a job well done.
