Re: Orca
I would really like some information too. I have sent in an email last year inquiring how does one go about employment for an FO, no response. I have sent an updated resume to them this year, let's see what happens. Being 3 time zones away probably does not make me very noticeable. I also heard they like BCIT grads....that might be just a rumor though.
Re: Orca
Terrible down the board for both Captains and F/Os.
Ask yourself, do you enjoy living in your parents basement? Do you like the taste of craft dinner? Do you not have soul? Do you enjoy pulling down our industry?
If you answered yes to all of these you might be a good fit.

Re: Orca
Last I saw posted on this forum was 2k/month for navajo capts. Not sure about FO's. Checked in with a friend there before christmas and it didn't sound like there was any need for hiring.
They generally hire local instructors etc.

First, it's *Kraft Dinner. Also, Orca pilots prefer the much more delectable "No Name macaroni and cheese". It's $0.13 cheaper per pack, slightly bigger so can be portioned down into three "Orca Pilot" sized meals, and IF the power bill has been paid, frozen down!!esp803 wrote:Terrible down the board for both Captains and F/Os.

Re: Orca
Give it a rest boys. Orca's pay scale has yet to affect my ability to earn a decent living doing enjoyable work, and if some of your previous posts are to be believed, it hasn't affected you either. All this "dragging down the industry" stuff might be more believable if you weren't living proof that it's not.
Most of us had to make some sort of compromise on the way up in order to get ahead. How many of us had to live somewhere REALLY shitty to get some hours? I don't think it's worth casting aspersions on someone who has decided that shitty pay in the short term is a compromise they need to make to get where they want to go if it means they can do so in a shorter time frame. It's not ideal but we live in a certain reality, not some aviation utopia. When you're low time, everything's a trade off; some go live in Fort McShithole, some slug it out on the ramp or a dock somewhere and some get paid crap to fly for a while. Very rarely does any low timer get paid well to fly in a great location. So what if you'd do things different? Each to their own.

Re: Orca
Ah but maybe I'd be earning more money if Orca wasn't around? I jest. Sort of. I suspect that I am one of the few who would rather live in Ft. McShithole then in Vancouver. If you must/really really really really want to live in YVR, have at it. If this is the case, why not look at Carson? You'll earn the same as a Metro F/O as a Skipper on the 31. Upon upgrade it will be double. Multi-Turbine-PIC. >12,500lbs. Living the dream.

Orca skippers are making 21K a year with an 18K 2 year bond? I think not. Get quick MPIC in the 31 and get over to a 704 operator. Dont waste your time living the Carson nightmare.

Re: Orca
So if we HAD to compare out of the three Navajo operators in the mainland/island area. Orca, KD and Island Express which one would you say would be best to spend some time at ? I realize we are looking at different shades of grey here but let's give it a shot for the sake of argument and good entertainment.

Re: Orca
Can some one from orca please pm me? I have a couple of questions and I would really benefit from talking to someone who ACTUALLY works/worked there. Thanks

President's Choice Mac & Cheese with a bit of garlic seasoning for those those nights where you want to treat yourself. Mmm...
Re: Orca
~$1800 a month for a full time piston captain? So F/O has to be around $1300.
By comparison, in BC the minimum wage is $10.25 with a proposal on the table to jump to at least $13.00. At that rate a minimum wage job working only 30 hours a week will gross $1677.00, or $20280 per annum. (At 40 hrs/week it's $27000- looks like you'll have to have your local fry jockey buy you beers at the end of the day). The reason for the jump is supposedly that the average individual can't make ends meet at a min wage job given the cost of living.
I'm not judging anyone except the operator. To each their own- but Sawweeeet! Have fun.

Rumor has it, the really Krafty Orca pilots load up on spread, soap and coffee from the hotel rooms. Bet they don't have on-board commissary for the clients!!!AWOS wrote:PointyEngine wrote:First, it's *Kraft Dinner. Also, Orca pilots prefer the much more delectable "No Name macaroni and cheese".
