Target is closing.

FYI...in case you haven't heard.

I'm sure someone can draw an aviation-related parallel.

How about; Since Tim Horton's coffee is now available in the US, Target Corporate Jets will no longer fly North of the 49th Parallel...

Sad. Most commuter pilots will loose their best paying job.

There's a couple argus platinum operators in YYZ that have benefitted from target the last couple years. Very disaplined pax. Always bang on time. There was talk of getting their own flight dept much like Walmart. I guess that's not going to happen.

Wow! What an absolutely brilliant example of business management.
Let's go whole hog after the largest, most ruthless retailer in the world in a smallish already saturated market. Winning strategy for sure.

Sadly there are now some 18,000 retail workers in Canada who have had their chains yanked by Target for the last 2 years that will soon be out on the street.

I wonder what sort of bonuses the MBA's will get for this one.

My thoughts exactly when I heard they were coming in... and, setting up shop on the real estate recently vacated by Walmart's last victim.

That and what this headline more or less sums up: "Robyn Urback: Canadians never quite ‘got’ Target. Full shelves might have helped"
I've wandered through their stores south of the border and didn't understand the appeal there. I really couldn't imagine what they had to offer here in Canada that wasn't already being sold in a dozen other competing stores already established in every market in the country.

Surprisingly, I heard it reported that they are offering a 16 week severance package. Not sure what that means if they take 5 months to wind down operations. Creditors are out of luck apparently.

What's there to get? It's a store; did I miss something?

I guess we are going to have to fly to the US&A to shop there again.

They came into a market that already had lots of competition, and didn't bring along a lot of the products that Canadians were apparently travelling to the US to buy from the Targets there.

Oh well(Target), this time next year(s)who will remember or even care to be quite honest. People will just go elsewhere to shop, naturally as expected. Like those defunct airlines(Jetsgo/Zoom et al), who remembers them, very few I bet. Retail and airline outfits come and go like beer farts.............
