Cargojet flew a 767-300 into YQR last night.

Would this be one of the largest types to ever visit Regina?

Wardair operated 747's from Regina to Hawaii back in the day!
Re: 767-300 to YQR
Yes, Regina has seen bigger.
Air Canada used to run their sun seeker 747 there also once a month in the winter for years. The Queen has been there on the A310. The Concorde has been there. Air Transat has been there. Air Cubana has been there.......
It may be in a "have-not" province and clearly isn't the big smoke, but it ain't exactly bummble fAck nowhere

Plus how can you not like a city whose name pronounced correctly rhymes with...?
My inner 12 year old always smiles to hear Americans and Brits informed of the correct way of saying "Regina".

I’m still waiting for my white male privilege membership card. Must have gotten lost in the mail.
Re: 767-300 to YQR
Thanks for the info, I didn't realize there used to be sked 747s. That's quite a large thing to be inside Regina...
Re: 767-300 to YQR
One could say the ole Regina has seen her fair share, both big and small.
But seriously, the only thing that determines how big an airport can handle, after runway, is infrastructure. No fingers to accommodate - bit of an issue. No ability to top her off - serious issue. Regina is on the "pipeline" so no end of juice to keep her goin.....this has taken a dark turn hasn't it....

I heard an American pilot who was going into Regina, and pronounced it in the "clean" way. The tower responded with the proper, Canadian pronunciation, and even after hearing that the American kept saying "Regeena". I thought I could even hear the discomfort in his voice over the radio.complexintentions wrote:Plus how can you not like a city whose name pronounced correctly rhymes with...?![]()

Re: 767-300 to YQR
I was a S/O on a L-1011that landed in YQR in March of '75. A DC-8 had a mechanical and we were to drop in and pick up the stranded pax. The bad news was that the stairs were about 5' short of the door, so we closed up and left them awaiting...
Re: 767-300 to YQR
I guess your 1011's didn't have the built in airstair option?

No airstairs on the Lockheeds.....I remember flying DC8's into Regina with layovers long enough to quaff considerable barley sandwiches and play shuffleboard against the local farmboys, braves and rubydubs until closing time at some old dingy hotel bar (long since been demolished I'm sure...now, what was that hotel's name....Cecil?? Grand??? Georgia???)?
....don't ask me how old I am....
....here she be on the Regina ramp ..."The Busy Crossroads"...
:
(can't see the fin number, but it looks like one of our two shorter 54's....either 'Waltzing Matilda' or 'Disco Duck'....the rest of the fleet were 61's and 63's)
