Once again, piloting is in the media cross-hairs. Are you, Mr. Anointed King of ALPA, going to raise any issues in the public eye? Are you going to take advantage of the microscope when it comes to TFWs?

He will just ignore you.

He is too busy setting up meetings with the likes of the Standards Council of Canada to discuss things like the power labelling of toy lasers sold over the counters in supermarkets........

But when it comes to telling Transport Canada that the Canadian Aviation Regulations require a Canadian pilots' licence to fly Canadian Commercial aircraft, he finds the subject too controversial and too upsetting for his Transport Canada top brass buddies.

We need a Union president who doesn't think that the job's primary function is to make friends in government.

In light of the fact that ESDC will again allow hundreds of TFW pilots into Canada this year, you would think that ALPA would resort to methods like having a couple hundred pilots in uniform protesting this on Parliament Hill, to force the Press to make it a headline issue, which in turn will make the opposition question the appropriate Ministers on the House floor.

But that would probably get some people in Ottawa upset against our fearless Union President, so it will never happen.

Sounds like someone thinks they can do a better job. Instead of bi7ching on here why don't you do something more productive? Where's your proof of letters to your MLA? Where's your noise? I think the one who's the shill here is obvious.

Yep, that's me.

Writing letters is fine and all, but unless our "leader" is willing to stick his neck out a bit further, nothing will change. Maybe if we get a change in the PMO he won't have to.

Grow up.

Use the appropriate channels to vent your grievances.

Calling him out on an anonymous forum is pathetic.

Oh many of us tried. His majesty does not write or reply to mere mortals. He writes to Ministers, Heads of Departments and MEC chairs. Everytime I wrote to the ALPA president in Washington, I received a reply. Everytime I wrote to the ALPA president in Ottawa, I did not.

I know exactly why Takeoff OK is venting his frustration in such a manner and I don't blame him one bit.

As the leading advocate for Canadian professional pilots, the Canada Board’s top strategic priorities include:
• advocating ALPA’s pilot partisan agenda to the Canadian government and other institutions;
• advancing the goal of updating flight-/duty-time regulations for Canadian pilots; and
• promoting aviation safety and security.

I guess he should be reminded of the priorities he probably determined himself. : :D
How many ALPA members in Canada?

The US ALPA is really active, it is impressive to see the amount of work they do for their pilots.
If we had in Canada an entity that could represent all of us with such a strength, it would be incredible.

So to clarify, you want to use the recent media attention on aviation (germanwings and Air Canada) as a jumping point for your foreign worker crusade?!?

That's a new low....

You sound like CUPIE using the new flight deck rule as a jumping point to return to the 1 in 50.

Low, self serving, pathetitic. Taking others hardships and turning them into an opertunity for personal agendas.

Yep, a new all-time low for us. Shame, shame, shame!

Shut up.

...and learn to spell.

To those of you criticizing me for calling Lord Adamus out in a public forum, and not using "proper channels" I say this:

I am not speaking for anyone but myself. I am not an official representative of any group. For those hard working individuals that are, the "proper channels" have achieved almost nothing. I am pissed at Adamus because not only is he failing his constituency by refusing to engage in this fight in any aggressive form, but he has actually worked to hamstring the efforts made so far. For example, a particular meeting in Winnipeg comes to mind...

I think he is failing in his role as ALPA Canada president, and I'm not going to simply write him a letter about it, which he will ignore. Instead, I post my rant here, knowing that he will see it, and that he will know everyone else has seen it too.

Don't like it? Don't read it.

Takeoff OK

Have you ever held an elected position or even volunteered within your own pilot group?

Regards

Takeoff is one of those angry guys who's wife has probably left him, kids won't talk to him. All he has is this site and his insane rants. It's easy to criticize someone's spelling instead of addressing the points that they make.

By the way, when you're sitting at home all day on you're PC just waiting for an "Opportunity" to put someone down on here, like Takeoff does. It's easy to spell correctly.

When you're out enjoying life with other interests and family members posts from your phone sometimes don't come out the way you'd like.

Before you ask why was I on here when out?. Because I had to show someone how crazy this thread is!

Just sitting in my Spider-Man underoos, weaving baskets out of human hair and waiting to pounce. So sad and lonely since the wife and kids ran off. All I have is avcanada to get me through the day now.

6030; nope. Although I was elected Queen of the Ball at last year's cotillion. I know where you're going with this, and in all honesty, with the chaos and bouncing around over the last few years, volunteering has not been high on my list of ways to spend my days off. Now that things appear to be settling down a bit, I could be convinced.
