How is it Out There?
I've been producing quite a number of resumes and covers since the winter - I know I'm not 'family' so I don't expect to hear all about your life's successes and trajedies but how about some employment feedback? Are people getting jobs? How about calls, interviews, anything?
It will help all of us to hear some successes?

My company has not hired a new pilot for over a year (except for one for a managed aircraft).
No movement.
No movement.

Re: How is it Out There?
I've sent out about 100 resumes, called a large majority. One or to nos, a few "not right now check back in a month" and a whole not of non answers. So far nothing. Time to hit the road soon.

250 hr CPL/Group 1 IR finished training 2 months ago - 4 applications, 3 interviews, 2 job offers
Re: How is it Out There?
2 pilot position offers*
I wasn't able to do a road trip but I did use ZED passes to visit companies in person - makes a big difference. Many of the northern companies and seasonal companies are hiring.

Re: How is it Out There?
Seems like they are only hiring low time guys, from what I have gathered. Would like to know the magic number. I have over 7000 hours and I keep getting "maybe soon", if I get a response at all. My friend has near 5000 hours and gets "not at the moment". And a few of my former students with between 400-1200 hours are in interviews and ground schools (couple in ground school not current). I do wish them luck and happy skies BTW.
I had one employer say he got nothing but the highest praise from all my references and a few more that I didn't know he had asked about me. But in the end he said "you are on top of the list, but not at this time".
Sometimes I think it has to do with timing and luck, but it is getting a good pilot down.
At least I have a plane to do some test flights on.....

Remember that you are selling your labour and sometimes, in parts of this industry, they can find a cheaper source. Also, maybe your experience is just not what they are looking for. Stick with it, hold out and don't sell out.

Re: How is it Out There?
It depends on what the job is too; it's not likely that a 500-hour pilot is applying for the same jobs as a 5000-hour pilot. There might be lots of jobs in the right seats of Navajos and King Airs right now, but not so many on Challengers or 737s.
