permanent resident for rampie job?(Perimiter)
Does anybody know if permanent resident is required for a rampie job?
I have heard that there is a new rule about that, someone could confirm that?
Thank you anyway.

Re: permanent resident for rampie job?(Winnipeg)
Having the legal right to work anywhere in Canada is a standard requirement. You need a Canadian passport, PR card or temp work visa. I worked on ramp in Winnipeg with my PR card. Hope that helps.

PR is fine. Some operators may have a preference for folks with citizenship though, but no legal requirement.

Sorry I meant to ask if the work permit is enough or PR is required?

Both make it technically legal (if work permit is for ramp worker Vs Pilot). However, with a permit it expires and unlikely they would bother putting you on the flight line as you'll be kicked once it expires. You'll need an LMO for a work permit as a pilot, and unless the operator pulls some sketchy tricks, CIC wont grant it. Even trying to renew your VISA as a ramp worker will be difficult and will still require an LMO to renew.

I know of multiple guys who worked the ramp/cargo at Perimeter with a work permit and they all fly there now...They were French citizens and got their PR through the Provincial Nomination Program while working on the ground then started flying there shortly after.
My understanding is that it's technically easier to get a PR in Manitoba than other provinces (specially if you can speak French).
Good luck!

Correct, especially if you have a job here. If interested, look up Provincial Nominee Program.flythatwing wrote: My understanding is that it's technically easier to get a PR in Manitoba than other provinces (specially if you can speak French).
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship
