westjet - thomas cook question
i'll be travelling to cancun from Cyqt via YWG on thursday morning. Apparently we are getting on a Thomas cook 757 from winnipeg to Cancun. Are these the ones westjet leased? do they have tvs? I'm travelling with 3 young kids and was really hoping for tv to help entertain them!
thanks
thanks

Old post from another area but perhaps the answer you were looking for:

We've flown several times on the Thomas Cook flights. The direct flights make up for the less than state of the art plane ; ) The only TVs are the old style model suspended in the aisle. And, there are no "PLUS" seats. I mention this as when we returned last week having paid for PLUS seats, the flight attendants had no idea which passengers had paid for this and we were not given the complimentary food and beverages as we should have been. I wasn't expecting the extra leg room as I knew from prior flights that wouldn't be happening.
The main thing to keep in mind is that you will enter the plane in front of row 10 (I believe) not in front of the first row. I find sitting too close to the area can be quite cold. So, plan to dress warmer if you're within a row or two either way. Also, there are 3 or 4 bathrooms around row 27 or 28 (or there a bouts). This area is always crowded with people waiting to use them! I try to avoid sitting too closely to this section as well.
Honestly, I actually find the seats themselves rather comfortable. I find them more comfortable than the seats on the newer Westjet planes out of Vancouver. They feel more padded and I wouldn't be surprised if they're not actually a bit wider.

FWIW, going forward, I wouldn't be betting on the seat back TVs. They're installing the new IFE, starting with tails they didn't get LiveTV installed (probably about 10 left), and it should be too long before the tails with TVs start going in and getting them removed.
I'm not sure about Thomas Cook, but if there is tablets offered, I've heard good things about the content, and I believe they have spliters for headphones.

You will be goin on a 737-700 and not the 757.

Where did you get the info about a B757 operating the flight?AEROMONKEY wrote:i'll be travelling to cancun from Cyqt via YWG on thursday morning. The '57s only operate the Alberta to Hawaii flights and I believe this is the last week for them, then they head back to the UK.

Our flight itinery says 757 operated by Thomas cook. We just checked in online and it still says that? I was surprised by the 757 but that's what it says?
Re: westjet - thomas cook question
For the YQT to YWG leg or the YWG to CUN leg? Might be a glitch in the system picking up the 3xxx flight number for Encore. I don't think the TC '57 can operate outside the Hawaii wet lease.AEROMONKEY wrote:Our flight itinery says 757 operated by Thomas cook. We just checked in online and it still says that? You will be flying from Winnipeg to Cancun on a Boeing 737-700 equipped with seat back TV's featuring complementary content. Bring your own headsets with the small stereo plug or you can purchase earbuds on board. Enjoy your trip to Cancun!
