Summer in Red Lake??

Post by klimman123 »

Hey Guys and Gals

Got an offer to work there for the summer. Seems like a good spot to work but the operator doesn't provide any housing. What do people pay for rent there. Are the any know pilot houses?? I can't just walk into town and end up paying a lot for crap. Mind you I've been in some rustic places for months on end and free board was always a plus. Any ideas

Red Lake Housing Update

ZIP
ZERO
RIEN
NADA
ZILCH
BIG FAT FREAKIN GOOSE EGG

Is there anyone else moving to Red for the summer. Lets pool our resources and make a go of it. One local guy suggested I should bring a tent to live in. Not the idea I had in mind. I'm looking for tips, hints, tricks, and/or contacts.

I think a place called Golden Hook Camp south of Red Lake has places to rent . Small cabins by the week or month. I could be wrong though.

Buy a camper, and see if you can live in the operator's parking lot!
You can probally sell the camper at the end and get your money back...most of it anyways

I contacted both. But unfortunitly they were looking to fill the space ASAP. The alternative was to pay for rent while not being there. I couldn't be confinced to do that. When it gets closer to May 1st I'll touch base with them again. I do appreciate the info.

Thanks

Pretty busy up there this season because of the Gold Rush! I bought a holiday trailer and found a spot to park it! Up at 4 am I dont think I will be in it all that much anyway.

I'm here, and the ice is still in and today it's snowing. Hopefully we get some nicer weather to start flying. For the moment I'm living in a family's basement. Seems good so far but would still like to hook up with a "pilot house" here in Red. I would perfer that type of freedom rather then walking on eggshells here. I'll continue my search so if anyone is coming to Red for the summer PM me and lets see what happens. If anyone is already here in Red let's go for drinks at the Howey. Cheers

Club RED

Post by Gr8Pilot »

Ah the days at Club RED are now over for me and I do miss them. Where are you flying ? I don't like to beat around the bush with PMs and such. I worked there last summer and had the best summer I've had in a long time. Flying, drinking, flying, drinking, chasing women (if you can find them), going to the Norseman Festival (drinking). Really fun place - I was not disappointed. I would have returned in a second until alas, I was offered a job I couldn't refuse with better pay and better women. I'll give a hint - "Bula!" is the greeting of this country
Have fun and don't get kicked out of the Howie Bay - it's easier than you think!!
