767 to SYD/MEL

Post by leftoftrack »

with 5 767's coming on board would WS be looking at possibly a 767 continuing from HNL to MEL/SYD as most of Europe is already covered they would have the only 1 stop to MEL from canada?

My mistake, there was a rumour on another forum. Anyway, the possibility still exists but far less likely. 1 767 from YYZ 1 from YYC 1 from YEG and a 737 all connecting in HNL with the 4th 767 continuing to MEL

That would leave no slack in the system for IROPs however it would offer a route that no one is doing

That would be awesome if they did this, highly doubt it though tbh.

YEV, YRT, and YFB are the first 3 destinations. 24 hour layovers in each, 48 in the winter.

Doubtful. Sorry to tell you but this isn't a new ground breaking idea. Canadian/AC did the SYD route before they were able to go direct. Losing 1/2 to 3/4 of your people in HNL then continuing on to SYD is not efficient as a full plane to Europe. Nor does a passenger want an extra 3 hour stop over if they can go direct to Canada.

The Europe/Asian market are well served and very expensive getting good slot times at some
Destinations but that is where the money/passengers are.

That's why you have 4 aircraft arrive at the same time. Your 20% load factor has now turned into 85 to 90%. Also lowers the cost to operate with the stop in the middle your no longer burning extra fuel hauling fuel. And you can't go from anywhere in Canada with out doing a 1 stop to MEL anyway, if westjet decided to go direct MEL from HNL. Also controls yield to HNL out of YEG and YYC with the larger aircraft and opens up yyz direct HNL. Just my thoughts

WJ has a domestic feed network with about 130 tails.

Transat has nothing. They rely on pure O&D traffic.

Therein lies the difference.

Transat doesn't fly to MEL or SYD did you mean for this comment to be on this thread?
