I'd like to see a side view. The camera angles make it look more impressive than (I suspect) it is. Still neat that an airliner can get to a 50-60 degree deck angle, but it's probably also mostly empty.

There are no pitch limits that I could find and no pitch attitude envelope protections, so at a very light weight they could keep it on the ground until just before the tire limit speed and probably have 60-70 kts extra flying speed with gobs of extra thrust. You can do impressive things with that for a short period of time as they did, although no where near vertical.

My main concern would be uninterrupted fuel feed with a very light fuel load and such excessive pitch angles, but I'm sure the engineering types assured them the collector box could handle it.

When is the Paris airshow? That would probably be a pretty good trip. Kind of like a slightly bigger Abbottsford circa 1986.

Not to mention they know what the real red lines are on the engines...not the ones that get painted on when you buy one.

Nothing quite like the view of a plane manoeuveting agressivley from above. very pretty,

I imagine they have to worry about G during gear retraction too. A 2 G pull I guess and all the hydraulics are lifting twice as much. Wonder why not lift off, raise gear, get speed and then pull?
or does the computer not like that?

Takes a long time for the gear to come up, and I doubt they could even pull 2 G's at that speed. It looks like nothing more than an aggressive rotation that kept going. It looks like he took 8 seconds to rotate to about 45-50 degrees which is double the normal rotation rate. He would need extra speed and lots of thrust to keep the AOA from getting unacceptably high at that rotation rate, but even then I bet it was close to the yellow.

I'm no expert, but I'm guessing the camera angle was a huge part of capturing the "near vertical" pitch angle.

Still a cool video

Can watch one of their practice flights from multiple angles here:

Pretty cool! Looks like they use the auto throttle a lot.
