Hey guys,
I am trying to apply for a job overseas, but im lacking one requirement which is a frozen ATPL. I'm currently holding a CPL with a group 1 and apprx 300 hours. I've written the IATRA, but I'm unable to write the ATPL exam here in Canada due to the 750 hr requirement. Once I am finished studying, would I be able to just drive down to the states and write the FAA ATPL exam or are there certain steps or requirements that I have to take before doing that?
If anyone can help clarify this for me id really appreciate it.
Thank you.

I'm not sure about the hours requirements to write the FAA ATPs, but in the US, applicants for an ATP Certificate need to take a new CPT course before they are eligible to write the exams. https://www.faa.gov/pilots/training/atp/

All I can tell you is that the American ATP now has higher requirements than our Canadian license.

Taking an FAA ATP written does not give you a frozen ATP. Assuming you are not converting a Canadian ATP, in the USA you also have to do a ATP practical test (check ride) to get the ATP. The ATP written, like any FAA written, is only valid for two years.
