Expired Applications
Hey folks, just wondering if there is anybody active on the forums who has had their initial application expire, and if you managed to reapply with success. Hasn't happened to me, but I wonder how many applicants have had their accounts expire while waiting at any point in the process. Thanks.
Re: Expired Applications
What region are you in? I can only speak for YEG but I was told during my interview here that candidates rarely time out of the pool in our FIR.

Re: Expired Applications
YWG, and I've heard that it's also quite unlikely to have your application expire over here as well. Not sure if that's fact, or just anecdotal evidence though.
Re: Expired Applications
Happened to me and two other people I know, all in Vancouver. We're going through the second time now
Re: Expired Applications
Vancouver is probably the least short staffed and most in demand posting for a transfer so not surprising that the pool is more "stagnant"CarbHeat wrote:Happened to me and two other people I know, all in Vancouver. We're going through the second time now

Re: Expired Applications
I really hope my application does not expire! I'm not entirely sure how often people in the pool for YQX/YYT get timed out.
Re: Expired Applications
Figured as much. Made me wonder, though, why they pushed us through to the phone interview and in-person interview if there wasn't a course planned. Perhaps it was cancelled.Braun wrote:Vancouver is probably the least short staffed and most in demand posting for a transfer so not surprising that the pool is more "stagnant"CarbHeat wrote:Happened to me and two other people I know, all in Vancouver. Re: Expired Applications
Well it depends on so many factors, but also if you stay in the pool for 18 months, depending on the area, it might take that long to go from online application to passing the in-person interview, So it is most likely that they like to keep the pools filled to a certain amount just due to people not passing the medical test, wrong timing in life, etc..CarbHeat wrote:Figured as much. Also people time out and it needs to be filled. They never tell you how big their pools are but if a class is 4-6 people, i wonder how many they keep in reserve.
Also the fact that they take the best of the pools so a person might not be in the top 4-6 to get into the course.
I myself passed my second interview and got streamed for IFR 2 weeks before the IFR course started in the YWG region this June. I was told during the interview that if I progressed through this stage, that I would have to wait until next year for the next IFR course, unless they offered me a VFR course.
Now I just hope I don't get bumped down the ladder by other candidates as I wait
Re: Expired Applications
This is the struggle for sure. I've spoken with a lot of people, at least 15 if not a few more, who are currently waiting in the YEG IFR pool for a course. Given that I seriously doubt that I somehow know everyone who is currently waiting in that stream, I can only assume this is a sample of the current YEG IFR candidate population. With IFR courses being 6-8 seats on average it does feel like they overstock the pool a little bit which makes sense due to people turning down courses for various reasons/etc.bobbert wrote:
