No union. 55% said no (unofficial as of yet). Thankfully sanity has prevailed!

The saddest part here isn't that the vote went No or even Yes. The saddest part is that 55 said No while 45 said Yes. This is a split- and shows that the pilot group is quite divided.
Now is the time for the pilot group to unite. How- that is the real question

Re: Union Vote 22 July - 05 Aug
I'm not sure why you'd consider this a sad thing. The pilot group is far from 'divided', this is a very civil group with both sides interested in what the other has to say. In fact I believe its a very healthy split that will keep the company on its toes.

Though I could imagine some pretty awkward flight decks happening right now...
What does one say when the captain asks how you voted.... on day 1 of a 5-day pairing?

Johnny,
I haven't seen a problem. I didn't support the union but have flown with many union supporters or leaders. They have always been the utmost professionals in the flight deck and on the layover.

Cseries operated by Encore in the near future and bottom of the list on the
next merger. Good job " No" vote.

Re: Union Vote 22 July - 05 Aug
As the NG and MAX fleet plan and firm orders pretty well sets the 737 capacity (including growth) for the next 15 years, "near future" would have to be 2030 or so to transfer any significant jet flying from mainline to Encore.mel gibson wrote:Cseries operated by Encore in the near future and bottom of the list on the

Looks like the CEO's scare tactics of threatening to pull profit sharing and ESPP worked on the majority.
Good luck down the road guys and gals.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/westjet ... -1.3109821"Having a union as your exclusive bargaining agent would have a significant impact on the nature of your employment and the way the company and employees interact with each other," Saretsky said in the email.
In a document attached to the email, WestJet says that a union cannot guarantee anything, including the terms of employment, current wages and profit sharing and the employee share purchase plan.

I agree.
Now is the time to work together and unify as a group.

I want to die like my grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers...
Re: Union Vote 22 July - 05 Aug
Is the WPPA going to let that happen?
The impression I get is "union or bust".

Make a video like this for the airline. It is the Westjetty way.

I flew on these guys once about 10 year back, but in the ATR on an inter-island flight.
But I sure would be HAPPY as well to go from an ATR to a 777.
