Re: Sunwing?
I got an offer for seasonal. I'm a 10K hour guy with 4.5K hours on 73B's and 73C's working overseas as a TFW in somebody else's country looking to come home to roost. It does happen.
Re: Sunwing?
Last Rumor is being an election year the feds are not too willing to accomodate Sunwing habit of getting non Canadian pilots for the winter season.
Apparently they were planning for over 100 for this winter.
So this might force Sunwing to hire DEC (direct entry Capt) for those with experience.
Good luck

Re: Sunwing?
I heard about over 80 seasonal Canadian pilots to be hired for this winter! And although not much is posted about it here, I heard lots of new of people being interviwed/hired at Sunwing these days.

Re: Sunwing?
Are there still interviews and calls going out, or have they filled all the spots?
A mile of road will take you a mile, but a mile of runway can take you anywhere
Re: Sunwing?
Does anyone know what size the fleet is expected to be this winter?
Re: Sunwing?
I believe that a poster on another thread said 32 Canadian registration and 6 wet lease from Europe.
Re: Sunwing?
Is there updates as to crewing and bases?skypirate88 wrote:Are there still interviews and calls going out, or have they filled all the spots?

Re: Sunwing?
Interviews are completed, and I think so is hiring for the last ground school in early to mid November. In total with permanent and seasonal positions Sunwing has hired over 100 pilots this year. Not bad!

Re: Sunwing?
At Sunwing we want to fly higher when it comes to employment equity. We, therefore, encourage applications from Aboriginal peoples, women, members of a visible minority and persons with a disability.
...so what kind of disability would I need to be considered? Are we talking elephantitis or a club foot or do I need a mild mental retardation?
Not a serious question btw.
Re: Sunwing?
What is attrition like at Sunwing? In particular for the the seasonal pilots. For those who work there, do you see pilots getting the type rating and experience and bailing to be expats the MENA or Asia?
Re: Sunwing?
Up until this year Sunwing has always hired the seasonal pilots on full time after their contract. I would imagine this year that anyone not offered a full time job would be marketable in the Middle East if they so desired. Will be interesting to see how many come back next year. Other than that there isn't much attrition except for a few retirements as I understand.jd832 wrote:What is attrition like at Sunwing? In particular for the the seasonal pilots. Re: Sunwing?
So far we had one retirement, plus one captain chose to fly as an F.O. after 65.
There were a few guys over the years, both captains and first officers, who left for greener pastures.
Every seasonal pilot got offered full time so far, some accepted, some didn't.
I would imagine that next May some seasonal F.O.s may not get a full time offer, we'll see.
