Any Type rated 737 Canadian pilots still out there ?
I heard a rumour stating that when Air Transat put out an ad for Seasonal B737 Pilots, including Captains, that no B737 rated Captains applied. Can this be true ?
Any type B737 type rated FOs out there ?

Re: Any Type rated 737 Canadian pilots still out there ?
Where was the ad? Was it well publicized and circulated? I know there was a discussion on here about it, but not everyone reads AvCanada.
Also was it restricted to current 737 Captains? I have a hard time seeing someone with a full time 737 job being interested in a part time 737 job. Maybe a WJ or Sunwing pilot at the bottom of the list who wants to go back to fire bombing or something.

Correct me if I am wrong but I remember an ad on the company website, but is gone now, I don't think it was anywhere else and I don't think it was there very long.

I should have been more precise, with current PPCs.......
Re: Any Type rated 737 Canadian pilots still out there ?
I'm sure he's not referring to west jet guys, more like the Canadian North, Enerjet type of guys.ahramin wrote:Where was the ad? Was it well publicized and circulated? I know there was a discussion on here about it, but not everyone reads AvCanada.

FO's only, according to the Transat website.
Re: Any Type rated 737 Canadian pilots still out there ?
A friend of mine applied for a seasonal Capt position and has not heard a thing. He is very experienced and current on the NG...
Re: Any Type rated 737 Canadian pilots still out there ?
Not correct. I know of at least one that did and heard nothing

Not bilingual...shouldn't matter, I know a few TS pilots who are notDh8Classic wrote:Gilles Hudicourt wrote:I heard a rumour stating that when Air Transat put out an ad for Seasonal B737 Pilots, including Captains, that no B737 rated Captains applied. To answer your question of "any type rated 737 fo's out there the answer is yes. I'm current on the 737-200 and speak both E/F. Despite sending resumes to 737 operators in Canada the best I can find are B1900 positions that pay somewhat well.
Re: Any Type rated 737 Canadian pilots still out there ?
A bit rusty but yes, not that it should matter enough. We just figured they grabbed a bunch of the laid off Canjet guys. Disappointed to hear they didn't' hire anyone.Dh8Classic wrote:Gilles Hudicourt wrote:I heard a rumour stating that when Air Transat put out an ad for Seasonal B737 Pilots, including Captains, that no B737 rated Captains applied. Any type B737 type rated FOs out there ?
Looks to me like someone is trying to make a case to bring in foreign pilots. I advertised no one applied our the ones that did were not qualified.
Re: Any Type rated 737 Canadian pilots still out there ?
I put up a post asking what terms and conditions (including pay) would be for a seasonal DEC at AT. No responses. Perhaps the terms don't exist yet.
And it would appear from some posts that AT ALPA did NOT approve seasonal DEC
So does it not appear that AT was putting the cart before the horse by placing an ad for seasonal DEC?

The seasonal thing is pretty new here and very much a work in progress...
And French is not a requirement despite the add. Lots of Anglos here.
Cheers

I was applying for all winter only 737NG jobs posted here. At last count I was at 11 times between TA and SW. My last 737NG ride was October 2013. I have now given up.

Do not give up yet.newcanjeter wrote:I was applying for all winter only 737NG jobs posted here. At last count I was at 11 times between TA and SW. My last 737NG ride was October 2013. I have now given up.
Rumor has it Sunwing will not get (all) the over 100 Europeans pilots they need for the winter, might have something to do with the Federal election.
Time to push that CV again.

I have a current PPC on the 738 with over 10,000 hours tt and 4000 pic, most of which is on the Boeing. I applied for the Seasonal Captain position that was posted on the Transat website in July, all I got was an automatic email reply acknowledging receipt of my resume. I am Canadian, but not bilingual. Oh, and soon to be unemployed.

Interesting. A pilot who obviously is in the know about AT's hiring policies and has inside knowledge of many details asks,
I was called a lot of names including bigoted for bringing up the subject so I said I would keep an open mind. I still do, but assuming the quoted posters above are telling the truth, an explanation would be much appreciated as to why Gilles was told that no qualified pilots applied..

I have brought up the subject of well over 50% of Canadian pilots possibly being excluded from this airline due to not being bilingual(and instead having much less qualified pilots hired) which is why I was so happy to see Sunwing's growth which is now open to everybody.Charley wrote:I have a current PPC on the 738 with over 10,000 hours tt and 4000 pic, most of which is on the Boeing. Same here. 10,000 plus hrs, 3,000 on NG, anglophone. No reply from AT in July other than receipt of resume.

You're tilting at windmills, DH8...
In fact, my last two SCs, who were hired less than 5 years ago, didn't speak a word of french when hired (one still barely does), and the captain who took over from me this morning, a 15 years veteran at least, still doesn't speak french...
I could go on, but I'm not sure you'll ever get the point because from reading your posts, you seem hellbent on discrediting Air Transat's hiring practices.
