Well, nice to see another experienced guy like CLGUY stand up and be heard.. I agree totally with everything he says.. As he says, if it tries to turn left on you as the nose is coming down, don't let it come down so quick.. I've been flying floatplanes for about the same length of time he has so if you "EXPERTS" dissagree, you'll have to come and show us how to do it right...

If you are worried about the X wind take off, aim a little downwind, start to apply the power (gives you some air rudder authority), retract the rudders, and don't try to force it onto the step... Not rocket science..

You are far more likely to break a water rudder bracket if you try to take off or land with them down as well.. Some airplanes will not maintain directional control with the rudders down on take off... If you have standard, approved rudder down springs, in most cases they will retract somewhat prior to take-off with them selected down..

I never get bored reading Avcanada.

Water rudders are for taxing and manouvering on the water when not on the step.

Taking off or landing with water rudders down is poor airmanship.

When we were caught doing that we bough the beer, we did not whine and snivvel about why.

I know, just carry a pair of "side cutters" so when you get caught just cut the water rudder retract cable and say it broke  Cheeper than buying beer

Jeeze you guys had it easy.

Here it's a 24 for : water rudders, flaps at the dock, logbook left on the desk, master left on, downwind take-offs and a few others I can't remember. Probably has to to do with the fact we're isolated from the nearest beer store by 100 klicks of muskeg. And yes, I paid my fair share.

Well good thing there is no rule about cases of beer for wheel planes then!! Besides when you have to fill out 10 differnt forms to fly to KD I imagine once in awhile you might forget one of them.

Well Shit

Post by Gards »

Well jebus! I guess I owe a few cases of beer for the damn log book shit then! But I will own up to it unlike some people I know!!

Could it really be possible to organize a party with both sides without management knowing? Afterall we are all doing the same job just wearing differnt colors, should be no bad blood amongst us should there?

P.S. PT6-asshole-114A looks like that paint ball gun will have to wait another couple months with all the beer I owe!!
