3 Pilots 1 Plane Schedule Ideas

Post by TK421 »

Hi all, wondering if any of you have suggestions on a schedule that has worked for you for three pilots operating a two crew aircraft?

All three are capt qualified, and its a corp jet with mostly doing 1-4 day trips

Thanks!

Oh, that's easy. 2 Captains and 1 FO, and every person has a 2 day on / 1 day off schedule in whatever CARS-approved multiple the crew agrees on.

Or you can send all 3 at the same time, and they can take turns sitting left seat, right seat, and handing out drinks in the back. If the flights are long and boring, you can try to do all three jobs on a single leg.

Or just be boring and give them a 12 on/6 off or 14 on/7 off rotation...

We have been doing this for years. 2 weeks on, 1 week off. It is CARs compliant and is good quality of life. Requires flexibility to cover training and other sundry day off requests.
