Sunwest/Navajo and Metro contract YYC

Can any Sunwest people or people in the know shed some light on whats happeneing with the Navajo/Metro flying in YYC? Did they lose some sort of contract or something?

Kinda.

The runs they were doing will now be done by Orca. Orca will also be doing the YVR runs............There is one big but though.......

I suspect Sunwest and Carson did not bid on the Checker/Dynamex runs. As of Jan 1 - there will be no more bank bags as the banks are doing all their xfers electronically. A little fact lost to Orca when then won them. Apparently Skylink will still be carring them back east. When Jan 1 comes around - the companies will be getting paid out their 3 month severance and it';s all over for these runs.

didn't orca have those contracts and couldn't do them? IIRC they couldn't keep their air planes operating.

Yep - true. However they only had the YVR runs last time.

Like I said though - I don't believe anyone else bid on them 'cause it's all over in Jan anyway.
