Gotta ask

Post by Old fella »

Saw the AC A319 charter aircraft for Harper and his lot(decked out in the usual slogans). Is this the type of flying many would be keen on, are there advantages/perks/unusual situations when flying the Party leaders and their groupies around. I would assume the Dippers and Grits will have their A319/20 painted in the colors.............

In the past, this type of flying was done by supervisory type pilots and not available to line pilots...if I remember correctly

Flair was before the official election started. All parties use AC during the official election.

Since the pilots require an extra layer of security clearance flying the government types only a few are selected/cleared, but since the flying awards belong to ACPA pilots not just those selected you may still choose to get awarded the flying and then be subsequently displaced and paid the better...

Anyone else catch the irony in Mulcair's Aerospace announcement this morning; promoting a plan to boast Canadian aerospace manufacturing jobs, while posing in front of a French manufactured campaign plane?

Not 'pro' or 'anti' anybody at this point.... just an observation

What would you suggest? That he should have rented a Q400?

I doubt there is a Canadian made plane currently available and configured to suit the list and range needs of a National campaign plus haul all the media...

I remember one of Martin's campaigns used a 727 from Cargojet (Starjet). I think Dionne's campaign had an old 737-200 from First Air or Canadian North.

I believe Air Canada operates a Bombardier CRJ705 with 75 seats including 10 Business Class. It could look good for a Party to chose this aircraft for their travels across Canada!

The key is availability...

Should they pull an RJ off the line and stop serving scheduled destinations for the the next 6 weeks?

The aircraft being used are dedicated charter aircraft.

Air Canada does not operate any Canadian built aircraft

Semantics.

CRJs, Q400s, -8s...

Like it or not those are Air Canada machines.

The organisational structure may be CPA - but AC dictates what those aircraft do. Who operates them. Where they go. Etc. They even paint "Air Canada" on the side.
