Float pilot wanted for lake trip on Sunshine Coast (BC)

Post by justchris »

Hello everyone,

I am looking for someone in the sunshine coast/Powell River area who would be interested in flying a group of us up to a lake east of Powell River, then back a few days later. Hopefully this lovely person would have their own plane, or easy access to one.
There will likely be 8 of us plus gear, so two trips perhaps, depending on capacity.

We'd be more than happy to pay for fuel, and could probably work something out for your time etc. Though anyone just wanting the experience is always a plus in our books! :)

Now this trip won't be happening until next summer (August), but we figured we would start asking around.
If you might be able to help us out, or know someone who could, please PM me or send an email to cochraneck@gmail.com

Cheers,
Chris

There are two very reputable floatplane operators out of Sechelt, Harbour Air and Sunshine Coast Air. Both have very reasonable rates for charters.

It's illegal for you to pay a private aircraft owner for a charter flight, so I would highly suggest moving on from that idea.

Oooooh this sounds like a mission for Chisel Air:

Our rates are fair, cash only, we use an AN-2 so 8 people won't be an issue. I trust you have your own insurance. We're going to have to relocate from the Yukon, so there will be a small positioning fee, but the overall cost savings by choosing Chisel Air, should put you ahead!

Sunshine coast air. Josh is a great guy. Their charter rates are very fair.

A beaver would be able to make that in two trips easily I'd imagine. Anything else(smaller) and there would be considerably more trips adding to the cost.

As some have mentioned, what you are proposing for a private aircraft would be illegal. I would also be cautious depending on the lake and the weather with anything but an experienced west coast pilot.
Goodluck!
