Now we need competition on the Winnipeg/Gillam/Thompson service. Would like to see Calm Air reduce their flights by 60%. Last minute ticket the other day was $1800.

Calm Air and Bearskin are owned by the same company, so thats not going to happen.

How does a company (Bearskin) reduce the price that they charge the customer for their service by 60% and remain in the black? Especially given the fact that the North Bay CA has a population of only 64,043 - a small, already well served market.
To add flights seems like overkill to me.

Easy. They operate an aircraft that has paid for itself 15 years or more ago, devalued to zero by finance, has a very, very low operating costs, with crews that are cost less than the competition. So everything they do is cheaper, therefore, they can do it for less. How many metro's can you buy for the cost of even a well used q400? Probably 23 or so.

My guess is even at a high reduced cost, they are still profitable, just before the rate reduction the heads of the show were skimming all the fat off the top before serving skim to the bottom. they've done the same as opec;drive down the prices so everyone else has to either operate at a loss or shut down. EIC's take over the world plan, mwahahaha...
