So are those 5 Q400's "sourced" by Air Canada coming from the Sky fleet?
Re: Fleet growth 5 new Qs, 5 new 705 within the next two ye
Good question. Are the SR Q's 74 seats? It said 78 seat Q400s. I suppose they could easily stuff another 4 seats in.Beach 200 wrote:So are those 5 Q400's "sourced" by Air Canada coming from the Sky fleet?

Amazing the kind of growth you can have when you lower 1st year pay to sub-encore level

What's the plan for the CRJ 200's again? Will they all be parked or possibly end up being used at the new "Classic" airline?
Re: Fleet growth 5 new Qs, 5 new 705 within the next two ye
Can thank AC management for that. Jazz had no choice but to lower the starting wages to match the other bottom feeder regionals. Jazz would have likely lost much of its Dash 8 flying to its "competitors" PS: I highly doubt Encore comes close to Jazz benefits/perdiems/pension.PROC_HDG wrote:Amazing the kind of growth you can have when you lower 1st year pay to sub-encore level

This isn't where they are saving.PROC_HDG wrote:Amazing the kind of growth you can have when you lower 1st year pay to sub-encore level

As per the memo, we are now operating with less crews, and less reserve coverage. This is supposedly what our competition does, hoping we will all do WDOS.
I see mostly new hires doing WDOs...but 1 WDO still won't make up the difference from the old 1st year salary. That is why we are all fortunate to do as many WDOs as we wish now!
Less crews, less benefits paid out by the company! Savings!
Less crews, more work, a little more pay, lot less free time!

The CRJ "Classic" airline would appear to be Georgian.Stinky wrote:What's the plan for the CRJ 200's again? Will they all be parked or possibly end up being used at the new "Classic" airline?

If I were to guess, I would say the 5 Q's are Sky's. It just makes sense on a cost basis. The only hiccup would be that the Island's gate agents and ramp are Sky Regional employees. Jazz crews will get along fine as they are super friendly.
Name calling between Jazz, Sky, GGN, and Encore are not going to get pilot's anywhere but lower. There needs to be a common ground, for the better, betweeen the pilots of these companies or it is all over.
Our jobs are no different from mainline jobs. You will find you probably move just as many or more passengers, at a higher yield, than your mainline counterparts in a single day.

If that is the source of the 5 Q's, my guess is that the AC YTZ operation is being shut down. There are no growth opportunities there for AC and no money is being made.Art Garfunkel wrote:If I were to guess, I would say the 5 Q's are Sky's. It just makes sense on a cost basis. You're likely not too far off the mark. I wouldn't be surprised if all 15 CRJ 200s that Jazz ordered new get moved to Georgian. That would allow Georgian to get rid off all those CRJ 100s that AC originally ordered back in the early 90's.rudder wrote:The CRJ "Classic" airline would appear to be Georgian.Stinky wrote:What's the plan for the CRJ 200's again? Re: Fleet growth 5 new Qs, 5 new 705 within the next two ye
When did Chours order 15 CRJ 200's? As the press release mentions these will be 78 seat Q400's not the 70 seat Sky Regional versions.
Re: Fleet growth 5 new Qs, 5 new 705 within the next two ye
This is great news for Jazz! and IMO only the beginning.
I think the way that it will all unfold is Jazz will operate the 705 fleet, all the 200's will go to GGN and Sky will have the 175s...everyone will get a piece of the jet flying.

If memory serves me correctly, they were ordered during AC restructuring back in 2003 and the first one was delivered in 2004.Oxi wrote:When did Chours order 15 CRJ 200's? As the press release mentions these will be 78 seat Q400's not the 70 seat Sky Regional versions.
