That wouldn't work for the Calgary hangars, as the 767-300ER with winglets has a wingspan that is about 5m wider than the door opening. The leased Toronto hangar has a door opening of about 60m compared with the 50.9m wingspan and should have sufficient height.leftoftrack wrote:Alberta goverment use to pull the dash 8 onto a ramp lifting the nose and lowering the tail to fit it in, any chance of that?

Usually 3 months. But there is an accelerated ETOPS approval process, for airlines that already carry out ETOPS 180 operations on another airframe/engine combo (WS B738 to Hawaii), so it should be shorter than 3 months.flyer 1492 wrote:How long before WJ has etops for the 767?

It's a glitch, I don't think Flightaware is updated as often as the schedule is. So far Oct 2nd it's in the schedule.....privateer wrote:So whats the deal? Flightaware says it is flying or is it a glitch?
Re: Updated logo and 767 preview
Hmmm what is the delay? Will that mean the HNL operation will be pushed back ? The sked shows it flying YYC-HNL on Dec. 12 which is pushing the ETOPs certification.

Hopefully it has a better entertainment system than the WJ 737 I flew on last week - all we had for "entertainment" was the WJ magazine.

Re: Updated logo and 767 preview
The 1st aircraft (C-FOGJ) has no IFEC installed yet, it will be used for ETOPS certification flying before the IFEC is fitted. The 2nd aircraft is at present being installed with the wireless IFEC system that is currently active in 21 of the 737-800s.flyingvinnie wrote:Hopefully it has a better entertainment system than the WJ 737 I flew on last week - all we had for "entertainment" was the WJ magazine.

Looks like it has yet to operate YYC-YYZ the most recent planned training flight is shown as being cancelled. Crew or aircraft problems, or are all the training flights finished????

If you are flying with WJ make sure you download the free WestJet APP on your device before you board so that you can use the free Wifi system. I flew Delta a few months ago and could not access the free wifi because I did not have their app. As mentioned prior, it is now on about 20% of WJ jets and it works great!!

I was pleasantly surprised by the systems performance on my IPad, be it streaming content or the 15 mins of gratis internet connectivity that is currently available.
I'll miss the live sports though....
I have a colleague who has had problems with his new Blackberry and its system, but that's all the more reason to ditch the blackberry platform.

Re: Updated logo and 767 preview
We've worked hard to optimise the cabin wireless bandwidth through placement of access points and tuning of the radio bands and power levels, with the aim of having simultaneous video streaming for the majority of guests on demand.Realitychex wrote:Agreed.culver10 wrote:If you are flying with WJ make sure you download the free WestJet APP on your device before you board so that you can use the free Wifi system. From a live sports and Canadian content perspective, once the majority of the fleet is installed and it becomes economically viable for WS to rent it's own satellite transponder bandwidth, this type of content is high on the wishlist to provide.
As we anticipate Blackberry devices to be in the low single digit percentage of all devices on board, support would only be through the use of the Android app capability (using Snap on BB10, for example) to run WestJet Connect for streaming media, although using Internet connectivity should not be a problem for Blackberry devices natively.

No training flights as far as I can tell, she hasn't moved since the flight up here from the US. American reg still on too.Longtimer wrote:Looks like it has yet to operate YYC-YYZ the most recent planned training flight is shown as being cancelled. Lowjack: thanks. I just checked the transport Canada Registry for C-FOGJ and that mark has yet to be registered. So far Westjet is not shown as owning any B767s. I wonder what the glitch is.

Another site is reporting that the aircraft is being held up due to a lack of paperwork. True? or
Re: Updated logo and 767 preview
Most of the remaining snags due to mods and associated paperwork have been rectified. Things are moving steadily forward. As usual the timeline to bring in a new aircraft type to an operator can be a bit variable, but as was written earlier in the thread "October" (2015!) is where everything should be cleared.Longtimer wrote:Another site is reporting that the aircraft is being held up due to a lack of paperwork. No hint of it in the program updates I receive, nor with my conversations with Tech Ops management. Not sure where or how this rumour started.ckl wrote:Bad corrosion?
