Air Georgian
Just wondering if anyone has any info. on the Georgian interview. How much multi time do you need to get on the right seat of the 1900? Also, does anyone know their routes out of Toronto? Any help would be great, Thanks.
2000h total , 500h multi or turbine included or try the caravan, 1000h minimum for the right seat, 1500 on the left seat....
but if you have 2000h and a secondary education, just wait for air canada's call....I've heard of a pilot that use to be a student of a georgian captain turning down the the 1900 FO seat because she is schedule on a Air canada couse (2500h)...
If this is for real, I don't want to work for the mainline, and I hope good luck to the AC capt dealing with the kids beside them......remember the joke with the dog and the pilot....

That is not a very good joke because it is so childish.
I personally will take a kid beside me in any aircraft as a co worker over someone with a lot of time and an attitude.
( The kid would have to be smart enough to spell simple words though.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

WTF is the pilot/dog joke?
"FLY THE AIRPLANE"!

Well, this will open a can of worms, but WTF... here we go.Inverted2 wrote:

Actually, there are a lot more females with more experience than that girl...think other factors were in play there.
I do some non aviaition business with some pilots at AC. One of them mentioned to me that they are having trouble with the new on line application system and that as a result none of the resumes submitted online have made it to the hiring board as of yet. The result of this is that the hiring board has no one to choose from, and are taking hand walked in resumes to fill spots in ground schools. He suggested that I find someone to do this for me (I don't know him quite well enough to impose on him for this).
This prompted me to call fellow #2, an old instructor of mine. I told him the story that had been told to me, and he said, "maybe", and that my times were to low for it to matter anyway. He also passed on the following unofficial info-bite. Minimums for males 5000 hrs, females 2000 hrs. He indicated that this was the trend that he was seeing in the hirings.
So, what does this mean? You decide. The info was given to me unofficially by an unofficial guy. I make no claim of knowledge of the inner workings of the HR ( or PC) deparment of AC. Now, having said that, I will venture my personal opinion. This situation is plausable and is inline with current political sentiments.
So, the can is now open, let the worms fly

and a round and around it goes, where it stops no one knows. Some people having getting on with low time, some with high. Some of the people have internal refernces, others don't, and some with internal refernces .... well end up like gelbish, with no call at all.
Just remeber this is only the begining, Take a deep breath .....exhale and breath again, and don't worry about it so much.

Since the worms are out and squirming anyway...
Why are people so bitter and nasty?
The rumours fly about who got hired and why, and all of a sudden you guys are experts? What ever happened to comradery? We should be ashamed of ourselves. Bitching and complaining there's no jobs, no movements in the industry. Well, here it is, things are moving, jobs are being created. Now we're complaining cause its not the way we want it?
I know everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but for pete's sake make it a well informed one. Not a disgruntled feeling toward a rumour. Have some pride and be thankful and happy for these guys (and gals) getting the positions.
We know the politics involved, and the unfortunate rule of minorities taking priority... but don't assume the rules are applied to everyone.
All these posts about companies hiring end the same: with bitter, selfish comments.
Pull your balls out of your purses and be happy for your fellow pilots!
My two cents,
- Isis
To all those starting the A/C groundschool courses, congratulations and have fun!
