Post by bizjets101 »

Dec 23 14:00 local time No Injuries - plane totaled

Our Airports - Telluride

A Mexican Beechjet 400 flying from El Paso to Telluride - did not contact FBO on arrival -
so they were unaware the runway was closed for plowing.

Aircraft landed - plow driver said he didn't see it coming
and estimated it was traveling approx. 100mph when wing struck the plow.

Aircraft went slight off the left side of runway -

5 passengers, plow driver, 2 pilots - no injuries reported.

Absolutely amazing no one was hurt or killed, that said I'm not sure how our way of operating with "radio" stations translates to the rest of the world. Do they have FSS stations? I know most Americans coming up here are completely lost on the concept of 126.7 calls.

According to statements made by the pilots after the crash they were aware the airport was closed, but as they got closer they decided conditions had improved and landed. They did not radio ground control and were not aware an airport worker was cleaning snow from the runway.

Updated News story/video from CBS Denver.
