More than 1000 hours a year
I'm wondering, where can you expect to fly more than 1000 hours a year?
Maybe at AC on the long haul?

Re: More than 1000 hours a year
Why in the hell would you want to? When I started flying I was doing about 1,000 /yr up north and hated it. Constantly exhausted, became ill a lot, and no time for anything else in life.
300 a year now and loving it!

I agree. I find 500 hours per year a comfortable number. That way the odometer rolls over every couple of years so you still feel like you're getting somewhere, but you're not being worked to death.
Re: More than 1000 hours a year
1000 hours a year is just too much. No time for life.
"What's it doing now?"
"Fly low and slow and throttle back in the turns."

If you fly YYZ-HKK one time per week it sould give you around that number! I'm sure you spend a lot of time home.

Anyone who has done 1000 hours in a year doesn't want to repeat 1000 hours in a year.

Northern Ontario and Manitoba 703/704 operators are shaping up for a 1000h year (unless winter comes early). Ask me how I feel about it (being at one of those) come December.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe NDB approaches just aren't for you

It's a great way to fast track the career if you're 18 years old and can take that kind of punishment.
Re: More than 1000 hours a year
10 months in and I'm pushing 800. By one year I should be close to if not over 1000 hours depending on how quick it picks up once breakup hits. Like co-joe says, it's a good way to fast track your career but I look forward to the day in the future when I get to fly less and make more. Isn't it all about seniority at airlines anyways?
I once asked a friend why he took the right seat A319 over a relief 777 pilot position at big red. I asked was it because he would fly less hours, not SIC? He more or less chuckled and said since starting there he hasn't updated his log book. He took the A319 so he could stay at his base.
