Plane Crash in Venezuela Leaves 160 Dead

Post by sprucemonkey »

Yet another crash in August.....

CARACAS, Venezuela -

A plane carrying vacationers home to the French Caribbean island of Martinique crashed Tuesday in western Venezuela after reporting engine problems, killing all 160 people on board, officials said. The McDonnell Douglas MD-82 was headed from Panama to Martinique when its pilot requested permission to make an emergency landing just after 3 a.m., saying there was trouble with both engines, said Col. Francisco Paz, president of the National Civil Aviation Institute.

Some info I got was that the plane that crashed used to be one of Jetsgo`s aircraft. I can`t confirm it, but my source tells me that, it was one of the last aircraft returned to the leasor, after it had all the Jetsgo parts removed and the original parts reinstalled.

If what they are reporting is true, which who knows if it is true, it wouldn't have been an old Jetsgo plane. All of Jetsgo's MD's were MD-83, they are reporting it to be an MD-82

Just like Wolfe Blitzer reporting that the Air France plane that crashed in YYZ was an Airbus 737.

It has indeed been a tragic month in aviation. It seems to be raining airplanes these day. The tuboprop a couple of weeks ago by Siciliy,....Helios....now the MD 82, not to mention there have been to civilian helicopter crashes the last couple of weeks with quite a few casualties. then there is the incidents/accidents here at home, mid air, King Air crash in BC and Air France.
Thoughts and prayers to all the familes and friends of the victims.
