Thats not usually what somebody buying a plane is looking for. Mostly we look at price/performance/safety/fun etc. issues and the material is chosen to help achieve those goals.Whole point in this aircraft is to show what marvels this stuff can do.
On an unrelated note. Why not try a two person training helicopter specifically for hover training where range and endurance don't matter? Hell you could even tether it with a power cord and practice hovering all day without having to carry batteries

I formulated my sentence hastily..
First and foremost the plane is intented to be easy to gain and maintain. Naturally it has to have all hallmarks of a well flying aerolane.
For me now the most interesting part is what the material can do to fullfill these dreams.
Note that the airfoil has 187 L/D at 1 mio Re area....also a years developement.

PS: I made the fuselage even easier to build and much stronger with clever innovations last nite ( drawn all up ). Nice Pitts you have there.

Saying the density is higher implies it weights more.(not good for an aurcraft) Saying the material is 80% tougher than Duramold does not mean much. How about showing a stress-strain diagram? To most of us, toughness is shown as the area under the stress-strain line and is quantifiable. The other measures are Izod imparce values.
I think before you get anyone to show any interset in this you will have to provide solid data.

i applaud your enthusiasm, we need much more of that kind of attitude, however if you want somebody to trust their life to your work you need to earn that trust. That takes time and proof. This is why it takes years to get there. That innovtion last night needs to be subjected to hundreds or thousands of hours of real testing life to be real.clever innovations last night
Build some protytpes, take them flying, show the advantages... As we say in English, "talk is cheap".

Duramold was 80% tougher than aluminium. This stuff is 20-30% tougher than Duramold. Aluminium has SG of 2.4 and this 1.43. It makes a huge difference.Jungle Jim wrote:Juke,

I have been testing the samples yes, but not in a certified test lab...as it would be too costly. I have had no funding on this...everything has been from my pockets.

I agree 100 %. I have a working prototype of a game changing wind turbine made outa this already. Aeroplane manufacturing is more difficult as the plane and its user might involve some serious legal issues. I am pursuing to get me a plane like this.
Max Cl is 2.15 for the wing.

You are quite right. I just know it is tough as I have made several of these and compared them with plywood and wood and other materials. I figure the stress tests costs $$$$ I don't have. Don't tell anyone...someone might get the idea I am not as rich as Elon Musk and I won't even get laid. I think aluminium is ok for the space ship.Jungle Jim wrote:Juke,

I have made few models of the mothership. I would like to make a bigger one next. Seems to fly ok. The mother ship T-Bird 1 is stable at scale speeds in excess of M10 and the slow flyer ( Solar Eagle ) seems to have insane glideratio ( as expected ).
Problem is that I didn't even get an answer from the firm that makes solar panels for Solar Impulse. They don't trust private persons claiming to have invented something.

I failed to get funding for my ultralite shown here on the first page. I did start this Solar Eagle already in 2012. Also the heavier machine first sketch is from 2003...three days after Columbia.
I bet this space attempt will fail even more miserebly then the Hippiäinen.

Some improvement.
I counted this needs only 7500 usd worth rocket fuel per person to get to orbit. Fuel is 3% of the cost in space travel.
