38 years old and never kissed a girl (Trajically Hip..;)
is 40 years old to late to start a career as a pilot in Canada? I just got my instructor's license.
I do want to make it as a captain either for an airline (Westjet, Transat, Canjet, etc)
or
Captain on a corporate jet
Which option would I have a better chance?
Your thoughts please.
Thank you.

Corporate generally is slower progression (senior guys not leaving, etc), as well as usually the first department to be cut in a corporate organization.
Airlines route is usually the most stable (as long as the company doesn't go under, or merge with someone else).
Military is a good alternative if you like the lifestyle, but they tell you where you will live.
Best of luck. It's never to late to chase your dreams

Probably a bit late to make Captain at WJ or AC but there will still be a great deal of fast movement in Aviation for the next ten years. Captain at perhaps Jazz should be a possibility. Maybe even a Sunwing or such. Get out and rack up your hours and the times are good to get into Aviation. First time in decades with lots of flying jobs on the horizon.Flyyourdreams wrote:is 40 years old to late to start a career as a pilot in Canada? I just got my instructor's license.

Nope, 40 is not too old at all. So lets say you get on with encore in a year or 2, your 42-43, you have 22-23 years left in your career and lots of time to climb the ladder. We have hired retired Air Canada pilots, laid off crews from everywhere and of all ages. 40 while no spring chicken is by no means too old. Get your hours and start applying now.
Good luck.
PS, get a hold of Davep on here. he'd have advice I'd heed.

The feet you step on today might be attached to the ass you're kissing tomorrow.

That Hip song is about a rapist FYI.

Correction - That Hip song is about a 20 year old kid who killed his sister's rapist.ragbagflyer wrote:That Hip song is about a rapist FYI.
"38 Years Old"
Twelve men broke loose in seventy three
From Millhaven Maximum Security
Twelve pictures lined up across the front page
Seems the Mounties had a summertime war to wage
Well, the chief told the people they had nothing to fear
Said, "The last thing they want to do is hang around here"
They mostly came from towns with long French names
But one of the dozen was a hometown shame
Same pattern on the table, same clock on the wall
Been one seat empty eighteen years in all
Freezing slow time, away from the world
He's thirty eight years old, never kissed a girl
He's thirty eight years old, never kissed a girl
We were sitting round the table, heard the telephone ring
Father said he tell them if he saw anything
Heard the tap on my window in the middle of the night
Held back the curtain for my older brother Mike
See my sister got raped so a man got killed
Local boy went to prison, man's buried on the hill
Folks went back to normal when they closed the case
They still stare at their shoes when they pass our place
My mother cried, "The horror has finally ceased"
He whispered, "Yeah, for the time being at least"
And over her shoulder on the squad car megaphone
Said, "Let's go, Michael, son, we're taking you home"
Same pattern on the table, same clock on the wall
Been one seat empty eighteen years in all
Freezing slow time, away from the world
He's thirty eight years old, never kissed a girl
He's thirty eight years old, never kissed a girl
He's thirty eight years old, never kissed a girl
